Captured 28 Dec 50 vic CHICHONNI, S of HWACHON
38th Div strength approx 6000 men
1st Regt approx 1200 men
3rd Regt approx 1500 men
38th Div came down from HUICHON arriving at HWACHON 25 Dec 50.
Saw unit signs at HWACHON indicating that 6th, 7th, 4th, 12th, and 2nd Div were there.
V Corps to be in central sector of Peninsula.
Captured 27 Dec 50 vic YANGGU. 31st Div strength approx 2500 men when Div left ICHON and arrived vic YANGGU 27 Dec 50.
Mission of 31st Div was to get behind UN lines and engage in active guerrilla warfare and drive toward west after penetrating down to HONGCHON. Believes units were not able to penetrate line at that time.
Captured 27 Dec 50 8 km south of 38th, south of HWACHON crossed 38th 25 Dec 50.
These 6 PWs were formerly of the II Corps, 8th Independent Regt approx 900 men. This Regt came down from ICHON. 23 Dec 50 this Regt was deactivated and personnel were assigned to the 6th Regt of 2nd Div. 8th Regt made up the entire 6th Regt of 2nd Div when they were reassigned.
Objective HONGCHON at that time.
Captured 27 Dec 50 vic YANGGU. 7th Div strength 3000 men, Arty Regt strength 600 men, 1st Regt u/k. 2nd Regt u/k, 3rd Regt u/k. At HWACHON 25 Dec saw the 6th and 38th Div. Also heard of 9th Div.
