Evaluation: PsW were cooperative and willing to give information although limited because of their status. Not recommended for further interrogation.
PsW were formerly from 8th ROK Div, 21st Regt, but after their capture by CCF at YONGWON 25 Nov 50; they were forced to join the 6th NK Div and given arms.
6th Div (4,000) left YONGWON and arrived in vicinity of HOENGSONG 6 Jan 51, where PsW observed another group of approx 1,200 men (u/k unit), two-thirds were armed. 6th Div continued south till they arrived at a Mt just east of PANKOK RR Station, 4 Kms SW of WONJU 7 Jan 51. PsW escaped and voluntarily surrendered to US troops at SIMLIM-RI.

Two-thirds armed with rifles - 50 rds/rifle
4x82mm mortars - 10 rds/mortar
2 HMGs
There were more than 100 former ROK soldiers in 6th Div.
