PW was suffering from pain and shock caused by a back wound. His memory was vague. Information obtained is considered not reliable. Not recommended for further interrogation.
PW and 60 men (all in civilian clothes) were sent out on a mission to surround a small concentration of UN troops in the Vic of MOKKYE-DONG (DS0104) when he was discovered and wounded and captured by 3rd Bn of 23rd Inf Regt.
The 12th Div (strength unk) after leaving HOENGSONG area advanced south to an area 8 Kms east of WONJU from where they s■ung southwest to hit enemy MSR leading to CHUNGJU and arrived in vic north of HAN-GANG near MOKKYE-DONG (DS0104).
At the time of PW’s capture, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Bns of the 3rd Regt were following 6 Kms to the rear and he believed that the 1st and 2nd Regts together with the Div Hqs were following behind 3rd Regt. Strength of Regts were unknown but each Bn in PW’s Regt was estimated at approx 200 men.
Mission of 12th Div is believed to be to envelope US troop concentrations between WONJU and CHUNGJU.
Next objective unknown.
