PW was cooperative in answering all questions asked, but he was very confused and had no sense of direction. Information obtained not reliable.
Not recommended for further interrogation.
PW was formerly of the ROK 8th Div, captured by NKA at YONCH’ON approx 60 Kms W of SEOUL 10 Dec 50. PW and 50 others (ROK) were attached to the 32nd Regt of 27th Div. This unit came to the vic of WONJU where he escaped.
32nd Regt left HWACH’ON o/a 29 Dec 50 with a strength of 500 men. States that 32nd Regt was still 12 Kms N of WONJU o/a 7 Jan 51 and did not participate in the attack on WONJU. 8 Jan 51 this unit arrived approx 4-5 Kms SE of WONJU toward CHECH’ON and stayed in a u/k village (20 houses) for three days. On the third day this unit received heavy artillery shelling and that night just before he escaped, overheard that they (32nd Regt) were going to move north because of heavy artillery fire. Also heard another Regt (u/k) was going to move into this area.
PW walked only 3 Kms south from this Regt CP when captured.
Weapons: All were armed. Observed 1x105mm mortar w/60 rds, 1x60mm mortar w/150 rds.
Clothing: 50% winter, 50% summer uniform.
Physical Condition: Weak with fatigue.
