3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
14 Aug 48: Inducted into the NKA, assigned to the 2nd Div, 4th Regt, 3rd Bn, 9th Co, 1st Plat, 4th Sqd as a private at HOERYONG (會寧).
29 Dec 49: Moved from HOERYONG to HAMHUNG (咸興) with his Regt, about 13,000 strong.
Feb 50: Entered the Department of Home Affairs, Central Security Staff School (內務省 中央保安幹部学校) for three months at P’YONGYANG.
20 May 50: After completing school, PW returned to his Regt. Assigned to the 2nd Div Hq, but was attached to the “4th Regt Hq Political Defense Section” as a political intelligence officer with the rank of Jr Lt. PW worked as a clerk in the political intelligence section.
12 Jun 50: 2nd Div departed from HAMHUNG (咸興) by train.
23 Jun 50: 4th Regt arrived at HWACH’ON (華川).
24 Jun 50: 4th Regt invaded South KOREA.
26 Jun 50: 4th Regt occupied CH’UNCH’ON (春川).
15 Aug 50: 4th Regt arrived at KUMCH’ON via HONGCH’ON (洪川), YANGP’YONG (楊平) and TANYANG (丹陽). Regt stayed here for about three days.
30 Aug 50: Regt crossed the NAKTONG River (洛東江) near CH’OGYE (草溪).
12 Sep 50: Regt arrived at PUGONG-NI (富谷里). CP of 4th Regt was established here, and the Regt, except personnel attached to the CP, moved out.
20 Sep 50: CP of the 4th Regt retreated and Hq was re-established at CH’OGYE (草溪). 2nd Div at this time was located at SINBAN-NI (新反里). Disorganized 2nd Div was assembled and moved out.
27 Oct 50: 4th Regt arrived at YANGYANG (襄陽). Spent one night and one the following day, crossed the 38th parallel near the east coast.
15 Nov 50: 4th Regt arrived at HUICH’ON (熙川) with strength of about 800 men. Spent about 13 days for rest and 2nd Div was reorganized but was still designated the 2nd Div.
20 Nov 50: 4th Regt received orders from NKA GHQ to infiltrate behind UN lines.
26 Dec 50: 2nd Div, with strength of about 2,000 strong arrived at HONGCH’ON (洪川). Div moved to vicinity of east coast but PW lagged behind taking care of a wounded officer also of the political defense section.
27 Dec 50: PW and five others were captured at HONGCH’ON (洪川) by ROK patrol of the 22nd Regt.

Div Hq: One communication officer and one EM from each regiment were assigned to Div Hq.
Regt’l Hq: A communication officer was assigned to each Regt’l Hq from the Div Hq.
All orders from Div Hq were carried by the assigned communication officer and EM of each Regt. All requests and communications from Regt’s to Div Hq were carried by each communication officer assigned to each regimental Hq from Div Hq.

f. Disposition:
When last seen, 2nd Div was moving towards the east coast from HONGCH’ON (洪川). Ⅱ Corps received orders to move behind enemy lines.

g. Intentions:
2nd Div was to move to KUMCH’ON (金泉) vicinity and set up road blocks.

h. Morale:
Low: Because of high losses in frequent air raids and because of lack of artillery support.

i. Replacements:
No replacements were received after September 1950.

j. Evacuation and Treatment of Wounded:
Medical companies attached to Regt’s were located approx 4 to 5 km behind the lines. Wounded were carried by stretchers and treated there. Seriously wounded personnel were evacuated by trucks to medical units attached to divisions.

k. Supply:
After the retreat of the NKA and up till Dec 50, each man carried 2 days ration and 300 rounds ammunition for small arms. PW stated since all artillery guns were destroyed, the 2nd Div was converted into a complete infantry division.

2. Napalm bomb
3. Fragmentation bomb

4. GENERAL:
Political Defense Section (政治保衛部)
This section was attached to the 4th Regt. Following is the type of work conducted in this unit:
a. Members of the section should observe secrets strictly.
b. Every member of the section should secure political purity among soldiers.
c. Every member should prevent soldiers from deserting. If they found that somebody deserted, they should report to Administration Culture Section.
d. They should pick up spies in the unit.
e. They have to prevent all accident which occur in the unit before they occur. If any accident occurred, they should report to Administration Culture Section.
f. When they find that soldiers weren’t well educated, they have to tell the Administration Culture Section to reeducate them.
g. In case they find out that the administration officers lost important documents, they have to report that to higher officers.
h. When they find that soldiers don’t have enough food, clothes and daily necessities, they must inform the Administration Department.
i. If Political Defense soldiers desert, they should report it to regimental headquarters and Regt Officer should report to division.
j. They must report the statistics of the persons who are in military service in the regiment twice a month.
k. Whenever they arrest traitors, they should hand them over to Divisional Political Defense Section.
l. If fire breaks out in the unit, it should be reported by members of the section to officers.
m. When soies and traitors are arrested, they are interrogated by Divisional Political Defense Section.
n. If there were shortages of administration staff officers in the unit, they should report it to higher organizations and should get replacements.
