PW was of average intelligence and cooperative. Reliability – fair.
a. Chronology:
21 Sep 50 – Conscripted into NKA at SINUIJU. Assigned to the 105th Div, 94th Regt, 120mm Mortar Co, 2nd Plat, 1st Sqd as a Pvt. Received 20 days basic training.
12 Oct 50 – 105th Div moved to CH’ONGJU (定州). A week later, the 120mm Mortar Co moved to PAKCH’ON (博川), TAECH’ON (泰川) and KUSONG (龜城). Two to three days were spent in each locality.
2 Nov 50 – 120mm Mortar Co arrived SAKJU (朔州). About ten days later, the 120mm Mortar Co was assigned to the Ⅰ Corps, Engineer Bn as “3rd Co.” The company consisted of about 100 men. Received engineer training at TAEGWAN (大館).
2 Dec 50 - Ⅰ Corps, Engineer Bn departed TAEGWAN (大館) with about 200 men for P’YONGYANG.
15 Dec 50 – Arrived P’YONGYANG. After a few days departed for SEOUL on foot.
27 Dec 50 – Engineer Bn arrived at a point 12km N of KORANGP’O (高浪浦). PW and ten others including platoon leader set out on foot for reconnaissance of bridge to be strung across the IMJIN River (臨津江) and to check the condition of the river.
28 Dec 50 – While walking around KORANGP’O (高浪浦) vicinity, PW and four others were captured by the ROK troops.
b. Unit Organization and Strength:
Ⅰ Corps consisted of 47th, 7th (Sic) and 8th divisions plus Eng Bn.
Eng Bn consisted of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Go’s.
1st Co consisted of 3 Plats.
c. Disposition:
When last seen, the Eng Bn was located 12km N of KORANGP’O (高浪浦).
d. Intentions:
Repair of bridge across IMJIN (臨津江) River. As of 28 Dec 50, about 50% of bridge was damaged. Bridge was located approx 100m S of KORANGP’O (高浪浦). Length of bridge was approx 120m and 1.5m in width. Bridge was made of rice bags.
e. Replacements:
Since 2 Nov 50, no replacements were received.
f. Supply:
Since 15 Dec 50, personal of the Eng Bn were forced to eat off the land because of lack of supplies. Each man carried 100 rds of small arms ammo.
g. Equipment:
Eng Bn’s equipment consisted of the followings:
Battalion: 6 pistols, 1 SMG.
Company: 1 pistol, 1 antitank mine, 1 anti-personnel mine, 36 shovels, 18 picks, 5 hammers and 6 NK-made mine detectors.
h. Other Units:
3 unknown CCF divisions were observed in vicinity of KORANP’O (高浪浦) as of 28 Dec 50.
i. Weapons Feared Most:
Strafing. Artillery fire.
Foreign Advisors:
One Russian of unknown rank was seen at 105th Div Hqs at SINUIJU 2 Oct 50.

As of 25 Nov 50:
Pvt – 50 won per month.
Ass’t Sqd Ldr – 100 won per month.
