Conscripted 15 Jun 48 at FUCHIEN SHENG (福建省) into the CNA.
Captured by the CCF at KWANGHSI SHENG (廣西省), 6 Jul 50.
PW and 500 other captured CNA soldiers were sent to MUKDEN, arriving o/a 10 Jul 50.
PW was assigned to the present CCF unit in Jul 50 at MUKDEN. He remained here until Oct 51. The 348th and the 349th Divisions of the 40th Army departed from MUKDEN during the early part of Oct 50 for ANTUNG. The 347th Division was last seen remaining in MUKDEN when the 349th and the 348th Divisions left for ANTUNG. The PW believes that the 347th Div is still in MANCHURIA at the present time (2 Jan 51). PW claims that he believes this because he has never heard about or seen them here in KOREA.
The 349th Division, as the forward element of the 40th Army, crossed a steel bridge on 15 Oct 50 into SINUIJU.
The division marched through mountains and utilized secondary roads during their movement to the 38th Parallel.

Due to the constant aerial attacks, absolutely no supplies were received by his unit.
During Nov 50 in the P'YONGYANG area, 3 trucks of food supplies destined for PW's unit were destroyed by aircraft. Therefore, PW believed that supply movements were more greatly limited due to fear of aircraft than the lack of transportation.

8. SIGNAL COMMUNICATIONS:
Bn and Cos used runners as means of communication.
Regts and above used telephones. No radios were observed.

9. MORALE:
Morale was low because of continuous, long marches and living and sleeping out in the mountains. Many were known to be weak due to over exposure to the weather. There were a number of deaths resulting from illness.
