a. Chronology:
12 Nov 49: Inducted into the YALU River border Security Army at SAKCHU (朔州).
29 Apr 50: Transferred to the Hq Guard Plat, 38th Brigade as a pvt at PYOKSONG (碧城).
25 Jun 50: Attacked ONGJIN (甕津).
5 Jul 50: Advanced to KAESONG. 38th redesignated as 9th Div with a strength of approx 10,000.
6 Aug 50: Advanced to SEOUL and detailed as SEOUL City garrison command.
12 Sep 50: 9th Div advanced to TAEJON (大田) and stayed there for two weeks.
25 Sep 50: Advanced to HYOPCH’ON (陜川). Immediately upon arrival, withdrew.
5 Oct 50: PW became sick and was left behind by the 9th Div at YONGDONG (永洞).
30 Oct 50: Arrived ICH’ON (利川) with 15 other men. Assigned to the 106th Regt which belonged to Ⅱ Corps Hq as an ass’t squad leader, 2nd plat, 2nd Co, 1st Bn. Rested in the mountains 50 miles N of ICHON for a month.
15 Nov 50: Rested for a month at ANBYON (安辺) 12 km S of WONSAN (元山). Departed for HWACH’ON (樺川).
25 Dec 50: The 106th Regt was deactivated. Personnel went to the 27th Div. PW was assigned to the 27th Div, 7th Regt, 1st Bn, 2nd Plat as ass’t squad leader of the 2nd Sod.
7 Jan 51: 7 companies of the 7th Regt entered WONJU (原州) and were surrounded by US troops. Received heavy machine gun fire from the US forces. Most of the troops of the 7 companies were killed. PW with 4 others were among the few who lived through the attack. Captured by US forces.

27th Div was originally organized in ANDONG (安東) MANCHURIA comprised of Korean Nationals and was then called the 12th Div. It now consists of 3 Inf Regt (7th, 10th and 32nd Regt).

d. Intentions:
27th Div was to attack WONJU (原州). 7 Jan 51.
e. Morale:
Morale was low because:
Most of the 27th Div soldiers were recruits, all of their weapons were of poor quality, fatigue due to long marches, and lack of the ammunition and food.
f. Evacuation and Treatment of Wounded:
At Regt aid stations, the wounded were limited to only mercurochrome and bandages and were left in the homes of civilians.
g. Supply:
Each man carried 4 days rations and 50 to 100 rds for small arms. 10 rds for two 82mm mortars in 1st Bn, 2,000 rds ammo for two 7.62mm DD light machine guns in 2nd Co.
