a. Chronology:
5 Sep 50 – Conscripted into NKA at P’YONGYANG with 5 or 6 hundred men. Wandered in the mountains for two months, training and marching south.
3 Nov 50 – Arrived in the vicinity of ICH’ON (伊川). Joined the Independent Regt, 39th Brigade, NKA.
End of Nov 50 – Reached HWACH’ON (樺川).
16 Dec 50 – Independent Regt (of about 570 troops) deactivated by the order of Ⅱ Corps commander. Transferred to 25th Regt, 10th Div, an estimated 3,000 strong, consisting of 25th, 27th, 29th and Arty Regts.
24 Dec 50 – Surrendered to 10th Regt, 8th Div ROK Army, vicinity of 38th parallel, S of HWACH’ON (樺川).
b. Unit History:
Independent Regt, 39th Brigade was newly organized in the vicinity of ICH’ON (伊川). This Regt had about 570 troops.
On 16 Dec 50, Brig was deactivated and PW was transferred to the 10th Div, 2nd Corps. 10th Div consisted of 4 Regts (25th, 27th, 29th and Arty Regts) a total of about 3,000 troops. (25th Regt’s strength was 500 or 600).

Battalion – Field phones (1 each in Bn CP).
Regiment – Field phones (one Signal Plat in each Regt).

e. Disposition:
At the end of Nov 50, 10th Div CP was at HWACH’ON (樺川)
On 16 Dec 50, 25th Regt CP was at YANGGU (楊口), east of HWACH’ON (樺川). Other Regts were in rear of 25th Regt.
f. Intentions:
10th Div was to infiltrate UN lines and proceed to TAEGU (大邱). After penetrating, 10th Div is to attack the roads, buildings and supply depots.
g. Morale:
Low, 25th Regt, because of high losses during Arty fire and because of being conscripted against their will.
h. Supply:
Each man carried 3 days rations and 20 rds. Arty Regt had no ammo, so they fought as infantry.
Other Units:
2nd Div preceded the 10th Div.
Ⅰ Corps located to the east.
Ⅱ Corps in the center.
Ⅲ Corps to the west.
Weapons Feared Most:
Artillery fire.
Naval gun fire.
Pay of Personnel:
Pvt – 100 won per month. PW was never paid.
