PW was of average intelligence and cooperative. Reliability - Fair.
a. Chronology:
20 Jul 50: Inducted into the Security Unit (attached to the Ministry of the Interior (內務省 警備隊) and assigned to the 30th Bn, 82mm Mortar Co, 3rd Plat, 3rd Sqd, as private at HWANGJU (黃州). Received 20 days training.
20 Aug 50: 30th Bn departed HWANGJU (黃州) by train. Strength about 400 men.
Early Sep 50: Arrived SEOUL. Two days later, departed on foot. During the march, PW was promoted to corporal and became assistant sqd ldr.
Early Oct 50: Arrived ANDONG (安東) on foot via CHECH’ON (提川). Position usually taken by 30th Bn was 12 km behind front lines. A few days later, 30th Bn retreated. Strength of unit approx 100 men.
Early Nov 50: Arrived KOKSAN (谷山). Prior to arrival here, approx 400 men were added to the 30th Bn. Bn redesignated II Corps, 3rd Bn, 7th Co, 2nd Plat, 3rd Sqd and promoted to sergeant. Fifteen days after arrival at KOKSAN (谷山), 14th Regt strength was brought up to 1,000 men.
Middle Nov 50: 14th Regt engaged in several engagements against ROK Security Units in vicinity of KOKSAN-GUN (谷山郡). Strength approx 1,500.
25 Nov 50: 14th Regt departed KOKSAN-GUN (谷山郡) with orders from GHQ to infiltrate behind enemy lines to cut off enemy supply routes.
14 Jan 51: PW unit arrived YONGWOL (寧越) with 1,500 men.
17 Jan 51: PW was captured by ROK 3rd Regt.

Two or three 82mm mortars in each mortar company.
d. Unit History:
Early Nov 50, the 30th Bn Security Unit was redesignated the 14th Regt of the 27th Div, II Corps at KOKSAN (谷山).
e. Disposition:
When last observed, the 14th Regt was located 12 km north of YONGWOL (寧越).
f. Intentions:
1st objective: TANYANG (丹陽)
2nd objective: YONGWOL (寧越)
3rd objective: KANGNUNG (江陵)
4th objective: TAEGU
Last objective: PUSAN
g. Morale:
Morale was extremely low. Reasons: Lack of supply, continuous marching, homesickness and strafing.
h. Evacuation and Treatment of Wounded:
Seriously wounded were left to die and lightly wounded were carried by stretchers wherever the unit moved to.
i. Supply:
Each man carried three days rations and 100 rounds. Mortar ammunition was hand carried. There were no regular supply facilities between rear units (ammo depot) and front lines.
