1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW has wounded right let. Was cooperative but below average intelligence. Information obtained should be assessed accordingly. PW was a Col in the Chinese Nationalist Army. Prior to enlistment PW was engaged in farming.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
PW enlisted in the CNA Feb 49. Oct 49 captured by CCF at FUNAN SHUN and there received seven months of Communist indoctrination. 28 Mar 50 was forced into the 38th Army, 112th Div, 334th Regt, 2nd Bn. Received no military training. 26 Oct 50 38th Army crossed the YALU River from MANPOJIN. Proceeded south via HICHON, KU■HAN, TOKCHON, KAECHON and SONGCHON. Enroute engaged in combat twice. Crossed the 38th parallel at POCHON on or about 1 Jan 51. Bivouaced at outskirts of SEOUL for 5 days. On or about 11 Jan 51 crossed the HAN River (location unk) over ice. After marching 2 nights, bivouaced 2 days at unknown location. Proceeded approx 8 km S then bivouaced another 7 days at unknown location. 301600 Jan 51, 2nd Bn withdrew N but due to stomach illness PW was left behind. 311200 Jan 51 captured by elements of 5th RCT at same location. PW was very vague of date and locations. No engagement after crossing 38th parallel.

38th Army composed of 112th, 113th and 114th Divisions. 112th Div composed of 334th, 335th and 336th Regts. 113th Div composed of 337th, 338th and 339th Regts. Arty Bn attached to each Div. Each Regt composed of 3 Rifle Bn’s. Each Bn composed of 3 Rifle Co’s & a HMG Co.

Observed 2 Arty pieces (approx 100mm) drawn by 8 horses vic 38th parallel. None observed after crossing 38th. No tanks or other arty pieces observed.

c. Food & Ammo:
Food procured from villagers. 80 rds of rifle ammo per man. Mortar ammo very low.
d. River Crossing:
334th Regt have no boats or bridge building equipment. Rely on frozen river to cross the HAN River. No specific point of crossing.

e. Other Units:
Heard that the 39th and 40th Armies were also in KOREA. 38th, 39th and 40 Armies comprise the 21st Field Army.

f. Morale:
Due to incessant air strikes, arty shelling, lack of food and frost bitten feet, morale of troops is low.
g. Surrender Leaflets:
PW read many US leaflets but did not give much thought to them. Officer & NCO told them the leaflets were all lies and if captured they would be killed.
h. US PsW:
Observed approx 30 US PsW vic 38th parallel on or about 30 Dec 50. Heard that PsW would be sent to MANCHURIA.
