PW deserted his unit when his company retreated 301600 Jan 51. Was in good physical condition at time of interrogation. PW was cooperative but appeared below average intelligence. Not recommended for further interrogation.
a. Chronology:
PW joined CNA 11 Feb 49 and served until capture by CCF at HAINAN Island Jun 50. PW held rank of Pvt with the Nationalist Army. 38th Army crossed the 38th parallel on or about 1 Jan 51 but route taken after crossing unknown. 27 Jan 51 334th Regiment arrived 16 km NW from place of capture of PW. 301400 Jan 51 an infantry company of the 2nd Bn, 334th Regt received bombardment. PW observed 6 killed and 4 wounded. 301600 Jan 51 PW’s company started to retreat but location unk.
b. PW’s Unit:
38th Army: 112th, 113th and 114th Div’s.
112th Div: 334th, 335th and 336th Regt’s.
Each regiment is composed of 3 Rifle Bn’s (Arty unit unk). 3 Rifle Co’s and 1 HMG Co compose each Bn.

c. Ammo:
PW was ammo bearer for MG and he stated that there were approx 1000 - 1100 rds per MG and 20 rds per mortar on hand.
d. Food:
Food is locally procured. Sufficient supply on hand.
e. Other Unit:
No knowledge of other units. Did not observe troops of other unit in vicinity. PW has no knowledge of replacements.
f. Leaflets:
PW saw leaflets lying on ground but was forbidden to read them.
