4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNIT:
The II Corps Headquarters o/a 19 Jan 51, was located in an unknown mountain 20 km North of YONGWOL (DS 5415).
The Engineer Battalion Headquarters of the II Corps, o/a 19 Jan 51, was at an unknown mountain 2 km South of YONGWOL. (The 3 Companies were with the Battalion Headquarters).
The mission of the Engineer Battalion of the II Corps is to infiltrate to TAEGU.
The mission of the II Corps is to infiltrate within UN lines in the TAEGU vicinity and to conduct guerrilla warfare.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Conscripted 1 Jul 50 at HWANGJU, HWANHAE DO and assigned to the 109th Internal Security Regiment.
Between Jul 50 to Aug 50, PW received basic infantry training at HWANGJU (■C 4283).
Upon completion of training the PW’s Regiment marched to TAEJON (CQ 6368). When the PW’s Regiment arrived at TAEJON, they were ordered to disperse and retreat to North KOREA on their own.
From TAEJON, the PW and 5 others marched through the SOBAEK - TAEBAEK Mountain Range until they arrived at YANGGU (DS 5415) in Nov 50 (d/u). Enroute to YANGGU, the PW’s group was joined by 45 stragglers at an unknown location.
Upon arrival at YANGGU, the PW and the 50 stragglers were integrated into the II NK Corps which was then reorganizing. PW was assigned to the Corps Engineer Battalion.
From YANGGU, the PW’s unit marched South over mountain trails until they arrived in the vicinity of YANGWOL on 19 Jan 51.
19 Jan 51, the movement of the PW’s unit was discovered by ROK patrols. The ROK’s attacked in force and the PW’s unit dispersed into the hills in the southern outskirts of the town.
During the attack, the PW was captured.

6. MORALE:
Morale was very low in the PW’s Battalion because of the lack of food and clothing.
40% of the troops in the PW’s company were not able to march because of trench foot.
