a. Chronology:
20 May 48 - Volunteered into the NKA and assigned to the 1st Bn, 4th Regt, 2nd Div at HOERYONG (會寧). Underwent basic training.
3 May 49 - 4th Regt departed HELIYON.
6 May 49 - Arrived HAMHUNG (咸興).
10 Jul 49 - 6th, 17th, Arty Regts and Div Hq came to HAMHUNG.
12 Jun 50 - Departed HAMHUNG.
20 Jun 50 - Arrived KWANGDONG-MYON (廣東面).
27 Jun 50 - 1100 hrs, captured CHUNCHON.
27 Jun 50 - 23 Aug 50 - Advanced up to CH’OGE-MYON (草溪面).
31 Aug 50 - Crossed the NAKTONG River (洛東江).
3 Sep 50 - Attacked CHANGYONG (昌寧).
17 Sep 50 - Started to retreat to NAMHUNG-NI (南興里).
15 Nov 50 - Arrived NAMHUNG-NI. The 2nd Div reorganized 4,000 men in division. Received winter uniforms and ammunition.
27 Nov 50 - Departed NAMHUNG-NI.
27 Nov 50 - 13 Jan 51 - Unit advanced to KUMKONG-NI (金■里)
17 Jan 51 - PW was captured at TANYANG.

c. Unit History:
2nd Div was originally organized in NANAM (羅南), KOREA on 25 Sep 46. It consisted of three Inf Regts (4th, 5th and 6th) and and Arty Regt, a total of about 5,000 troops.
13 Jul 49, 17th Regt took the place of the 5th Regt. (5th Regt was transferred to the 4th Div).
20 Mar 50, 2nd Div increased its strength to 12,000 troops.

f. Intention:
2nd Div’s intention was to infiltrate into UN territory before CCF attacks and cut the lines of communication and to engage the retreating UN Forces.
g. Morale:
Low because they had to march over mountain roads in the cold and they were not fed nor clothed adequately.
h. Supply:
Each man carried 3 days rations and 150 rds of ammo for small arms.
i. Weapons Feared Most:
Napalm attacks.
