PW appeared to be in good physical condition at time of interrogation. PW was a student of SONGIN High School prior to induction into the NK Army. PW was cooperative and of average intelligence. Information obtained is considered reliable.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION.
a. Unit Organization, Strength and Equipment:
15th NK Div was reconstituted o/a 5 Dec 50 at KONGIM-DONG (BA9833) from elements of former NK 4th Div and 70% recent conscripts.
II NK Corps was reorganized on an unknown date and composed of the 6th, 9th, and 15th NK Divs.
15th Div composed of the 3rd Regt, two u/k regrets and Arty Regt. 3rd Regt composed of 3 Rifle Bns. 1st Bn composed of 2 Rifle Cos, Mortar Co (Code: "BUDUNAMU" - willow tree), HMG Co, Sig Plat and Med Plat. The Mortar Co composed of 3 Plats.

The 15th Div received no casualties from air strike or artillery.
PW observed 120mm mortars and 3.7mm AT guns on 5 Jan 51 at KUMHWA (CT6538). The Mortar Co had 9 82mm mortars. Plat and Sqd Ldrs were armed with PPSH M-1941 SMGs and EM were armed with M-1891/30 rifles.
b. Unit Assignment and Intentions:
PW heard from his Co CO 5 Jan 51 at KUMHWA that the ultimate objective of the 15th Div is PUSAN. Also heard that the tactical mission is to attack the west coast and retake TAEJON.
c. Disposition:
PW heard from a NK guard on 4 Jan 51 that the 6th and 9th NK Divs were located near the 15th Div (Exact locations u/k).
6th, 9th, and 15th NK Divs comprise the II NK Corps. NKA Reorganization and Training Center is located at KONGNI-DONG (BA9833).
d. Communication:
Portable telephones were used for communications between the Div and Regts. Messengers were used between Bns and Cos.

f. Armor:
PW observed five CCF tanks (type u/k) at ICHON (CT1662) 2 Jan 51. The tanks were heading south. White star was observed on side of the turret.
g. Morale:
Morale of PW's Co was low due to lack of food and clothing. Approx 50% of the men intend to desert.
h. Chronology:
PW conscripted into the NKA 12 Oct 50 at SONGIM (YC2990). On the following day, PW departed SONGIM on foot and arrived at KONGIN-DONG (BA9833), 12 Nov 50, where he received mortar training until 13 Dec 50. Upon completion of training, PW was assigned to the 15th Div, 3rd Regt, 1st Bn, Mortar Co. On 20 Dec 50, the 15th Div departed KONGIN-DONG and marched to KUMHWA (CT6538) arriving 5 Jan 51. Upon arrival at KUMHWA, PW deserted his unit and on the following day encountered a founded ROK MP (straggler). PW travelled together to SONGJU-NI (CS2702) and voluntarily surrendered to "G" Co, 35th Regt on 21 Jan 51.
PW's route of travel from reorganization to place of capture is as follows: KONGNI-DONG (BA9833) - BUICHON (BV6749) - TOKCHON (BV6904) - SONGCHON (BU6048) - KOKSAN (BT9795) - ICHON (CT1662) - KUMHWA (CT6538) - UIJONGBU (CS2778) - SEOUL - SUWON (CS2527) - SOJONG-NI (CS2702).
a. Food and Ammo Supplies:
Food was insufficient and was procured locally. No food supplies were received from the rear.
When PW deserted his Co, there were 700 rds of mortar ammo. Each rifleman carried 100 rds.
One set of winter uniform was issued to PW at time of induction. No additional clothing was issued since then.
b. Psychological Warfare:
PW stated he did not want to fight for the NKA and therefore deserted his unit and voluntarily surrendered to join the ROK Army. PW did not observe any UN propaganda leaflets.
c. Captured Equipment:
PW observed 3 US carbines in his unit. They were used only by the guards.
