4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS: (10 Jan 51)
The 150th Division (rear) Hqs, (hearsay) o/a 5 Jan 51, was located in the mountains approx 3 km North of SEOUL. Prior to capture, (17 Jan 51), the PW overheard his commanding officer say that the Hqs was still at the same places.
All elements of the 150th Division at present are dispersed in the hills in the northern outskirts of SEOUL.
10 Jan 51, the PW’s unit, the Security Bn of the 150th Division, was dispatched to OSAN-NI (CS2813) for the purpose of reconnoitering the mountain trails between SEOUL AND OSAN-NI. The mountain trails that PW’s unit reconnoitered was parallel with the main highway, extending south from SEOUL and it was usually about 4 km East of the highway.
Prior to departing on this mission, the PW was told by his commanding officer that the entire 150th Division was to take the mountain trails south as soon as they reported back to division Headquarters. The PW’s unit did not have communication equipment, and, consequently, a runner was dispatched to the Div Hqs 17 Jan 51, prior to capture at CSAN-NI. Runner’s message was unknown.
The 148th and 149th Division Headquarters of the 41st Army (Hearsay) o/a 10 Jan 51, was located in the vicinity of the 150th Div Hqs 3 Km North of SEOUL.
If and when, the 150th Division moves South, the 148th and 149th Divs were to be on the flanks of the 150th Div (PW’s opinion).
The mission of the 150th Div is to move south, to the general vicinity of OSAN-NI for the purpose of infiltrating US lines and to conduct guerrilla warfare in small groups. This was told the PW by his Bn Co. The mission of the PW’s battalion was to advance far ahead of the main body because the CCF was to avoid engagements with US forces. The mission, therefore, was to infiltrate UN lines in as much strength as possible.
When infiltrating US positions they were to send groups of between 3 to 5 troops at a time, and if successful, they were to wait for the arrival of others at a pre-arranged position.
