3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH: (As of 17 Jan 51)
10th Div consists of approx 3,000 troops; 25th Regt (Code No. 747 unit), 27th Regt (Code No. 749 unit), and 29th Regt (Code No. 751 unit).
Each Regt composed of 3 Rifle Bns of about 800 troops each.
Bn composed of 3 Rifle Cos, averaging 60 troops each.
3 Plats constituted a Co; and each Plat composed of 4 Sqds of between 3 to 4 men each.

4. LOCATION & ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:
The 10th NK Division Hqs 17 Jan 50 situated at YANGJU DONG (DR3080). 18 Jan 50, the PW’s Hqs departed for ANDONG (DR7646).
25th, 27th and 29th Regts 18 Jan 51, departed for ANDONG.
The mission of the 10th Division was to infiltrate to ANDONG, conduct guerilla warfare, and to set up road blocks behind UN lines, while a CCF unit of unknown strength will attack southward from the CHUN JU (DR0591) area. The PW heard that this CCF unit was enroute from HWACH’ON (CT8717).
The mission of infiltrating into the ANDONG area with the promise of CCF support was dictated in an order to the PW by his Bn Commander 18 Jan 51 at YANG JU DONG.
PW heard that the NK 9th, 12th, 6th, 17th and 27th Divisions were adjacent to the 10th Division.
PW heard that the 17th Div’s strength was 3,000 (Strength of other divisions unknown).
9th, 6th, 17th, 10th and 27th Divisions are the elements of the Ⅱ NK Corps.
PW heard that the V NK Crops is to support the Ⅱ NK Corps. (Location of Ⅱ and V Corps, unknown).
The troops of the Ⅱ NK Corps are said to be wearing all type of clothing. (Mostly civilian) Only a few officers were observed in NKA uniforms.
The 10th Division’s route to ANDONG, is a mountain trail paralleling the TANYANG (DR3987) YONGJU (DR6574) ANDONG highway.

5. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Conscripted 1 May 50 at KANDONG GUN, with others and assigned to the 2nd Div, 4th Regt, which was then called the 238th KUN UNIT, stationed at HAMHUNG (CX0802).
Between 1 May 50 to 15 Jun 50 the PW was trained as an infantry man.
15 Jun 50, the 2nd Division departed for the 38th parallel in preparation for war and the PW was left behind at the HAMHUNG ARMY hospital because of illness.
O/a 10 Jul 50, the PW was released from the hospital and sent to the YANGDO Basic Training Camp at YANGDO (BV9744). Upon arrival at YANGDO, o/a 1 Aug 50, the PW was commissioned a Jr Lt in charge of training new conscripts.
O/a 15 Aug 50 the PW received orders to take a group of 200 replacements to the 2nd Division, 2643 KUN Unit, at KUKCH’ON (DQ2096). The PW and his group of 200 replacement troops marched to P’YONGYANG, where they boarded a train going to SEOUL, arriving o/a 20 Aug 50.
O/a 20 Aug 50, the PW and his group switched trains and traveled to SUWON (CS2538). At SUWON, the replacements disembarked and marched to within 4 Kms of KUMCH’ON by way of CH’ONAN (CR3575), TAEJON (CR5921) and YONGDONG (CR0904).
O/a 26 Sep 50, the PW’s group arrived within 4 Kms of KUMCH’ON, where they met retreating N Koreans who told them to retreat.
PW ordered his troops to disperse into small groups and return to their homes.
PW and 3 others joined stragglers of the 10th NK Division enroute to the TAEBAEK mountain range. From the TAEBAEK Mountain Range the PW and the 10th Div stragglers marched through the mountains until they arrived in the vicinity of HWACH’ON (CT8328) o/a 1 Oct 50, where they joined another group of 10th Div stragglers. At that time the combined forces of the stragglers was approx 5,000 troops.
Upon arrival at HWACH’ON in Oct 50 the 5,000 stragglers were reorganized into the 25th, 27th and 29th Regts. As soon as the reorganization was completed they attacked and occupied HWACH’ON.
During the battle for HWACH’ON, the combined losses for the 25th, 27th and 29th Regts were approx 2,000 killed.
O/a 20 Oct 50, the 10th Division and its elements made their way to YANGJU DONG (DR3080), by-passing CHUNCH’ON (arrived 13 Jan 51).
O/a 13 Jan 51, the PW’s Regt (27th Regt) departed for ANDONG. At an unknown village 12 Kms South of YANGJU DONG, the PW’s Regt was attacked by ROK Forces. The PW’s Bn was left behind as a rear guard unit.
On 13 Jan 51, the PW was wounded and his Bn altered plans and returned to YANGJU DONG.
Upon returning to YANGJU DONG on 18 Jan 50, his Bn was surrounded by elements of the ROK 8th Div.
Most of the troops in his Bn were either taken prisoners or killed.

7. REPLACEMENTS:
About 50 replacements of the 10th NK Division are in HWACH’ON at present.

8. FOOD & AMMO:
The 10th NK Division did not have a food supply system.
Food supplies usually came from newly occupied villages or by sporadic raids on villages.
The 10th Division does not have an ammo supply. To replenish their present supply they expect to attack small garrisons stationed in a vicinity of operations and capture whatever ammo and weapons there.

9. ARMOR & ARTILLERY:
The 10th Division does not have artillery. Each Bn had 2 x 82mm Mortars which were classified as artillery.

10. MORALE:
Morale of the troops is said to be very low because of the lack of food and clothing.

11. U.S. PW’S:
When the 10th NK Division occupied HWACH’ON approx 50 ROK prisoners were taken.
The PW heard that some of them were released and some of them were integrated into the 10th Division.

12. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:
