3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
7 Jul 50 - Inducted into the NKA at YANGYANG (襄陽).
10 Jul 50 - Departed YANGYANG on foot.
12 Jul 50 - Arrived CHECHON (提川).
18 Jul 50 - Two battalions of 8th Division reassigned to Artillery Regiment, 10th Division. PW assigned to 1st squad, 1st platoon, 4th company, 2nd battalion, artillery regiment as a private.
18 Jul 50 - Departed CHECHON on foot.
24 Jul 50 - Arrived WONJU (原州). Departed by train.
26 Jul 50 - Arrived SEOUL (서울). Each battalion issued 10 x 76mm field guns M1942 “zis 3” and 2 x 122mm howitzers M1938 (refer to NKA book, dated Aug 50).
28 Jul 50 - Departed SEOUL.
8 Aug 50 - Arrived KORYONG (高靈). Entered battle.
26 Aug 50 - 2nd battalion departed KORYONG.
27 Aug 50 - Arrived SONGJU (星州). Engaged in battle.
25 Sep 50 - Artillery regiment retreated.
25 Sep 50 - Arrived INJE (麟蹄). 10th Division assembled here.
25 Nov 50 - 10th Division arrived HWACHON (華川).
26 Dec 50 - 10th Division departed HWACHON.
27 Dec 50 - Crossed the 38th parallel.
4 Feb 51 - 10th Division headquarters, units directly attached to division, 25th regiment and artillery regiment, arrived YONGDOK (盈德) via YONGCHON (永川), YONGJU (榮州), TANYANG (丹陽), YONGWOL (寧越), WONJU (原州), and HONGCHON (洪川). Surrounded by US marines and ROK marines.
8 Feb 51 - PW was captured at YONGDOK (盈德).

28 Sep 50 artillery and mortars of the 1st, 3rd, and division 120mm mortar battalions was left behind at KUMCHON-GUN, TAEBANG-NI (金泉郡大方里).

c. Unit History:
10th Division originated from the #2 Youths Training School (靑年訓練學校) located at SUKCHON (肅川) in Apr 50. The 25th, 27th, 29th Infantry-Regiments plus the 1st battalion of the Artillery Regiment were also organized in SUKCHON. On 18 Jul 50, the 2nd and 3rd Battalions were transferred from the 8th Division into the Artillery Regiment. The two battalions were replaced by the 38th Parallel Brigade.

g. Disposition:
When last observed the 10th Division was surrounded by US marines and ROK marines at YONGDOK (盈德) on 4 Feb 51.

h. Intentions:
The intention of the 10th Division was to infiltrate behind enemy lines and cut off supply routes. Area of the 10th Division’s activity was ordered by Corps Headquarters as follows: ANDONG (安東), UISONG (義城), CHONGSONG (淸松), YONGCHON (永川), and YONGDOK (盈德).

i. Morale:
Very low due to frequent attacks of the UN troops, air strikes, artillery fire, and lack of supply.

j. Replacements:
No replacements were received since 18 Jul 50. (sic)

k. Evacuation and Treatment of wounded:
Seriously wounded were left behind on their own.

l. Supply:
Each man carried one day ration and 70 rounds of ammo for small arms.

m. Recruiting Program:
Orders were issued by the North Korean Government to various “Democratic Youths Leagues” ( ) located throughout the cities and villages of North KOREA to produce the number of youths requested. After Apr 50, all male persons between 18 and 40 were subject to be drafted into the NKA.
