1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW and 25 other wounded were taken to a field hospital, immediately N of TONDAE SAN (ER 2617). Stayed 3 days but no medical treatments were administered so in disgust PW deserted and went into MASURI (ER 2517).
Not recommended for further interrogation.
PW was cooperative and route of movement well remembered.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Mission:
There was no particular mission for the Regt at present except to escape from the UN trap.

Arty Regt had no contact with UN Forces and most of those who fell out were due to frostbite and air attack casualties.

c. Chronology:
24 Dec 51 - 10th Div left HWACH’ON
Mission to cut MSR and conduct guerrilla activities.
10 Jan 51 - Arty Regt arrived at CHIDONG and proceeded to KOMDAN (DR 9533), ORAKTONG (DR 9231), SONDANGNI (DR 9427), KORANDONG (DR 9427), SANGSADONG (DR 9725), HASA DONG (DR 9624) and arrived CHISODONG (DR 9922) o/a 14 Jan 51.
15 Jan 51 - Regt continued to KUNGOLTONG (ER 0318), CHOMGOK (ER 0516), TOLGOGAE (ER 0718), HASOKTONG (ER 0918), SOTPOL (ER 0815), KUUM (ER 0711), OSARI (ER 1011), SONGIGOL (ER 1109) and to KALCHON (ER (1307).
At KALCHON felt that they were surrounded and started to withdraw 20 Jan 51.
Withdrew through KONGSUGOL (ER 0909), KUUM (ER 1107), PYANGHO DONG (ER 1305), KOSONGDONG (0214), SEGOK (ER 0116), HARORAEDONG (ER 0221), SANG NO-RAEDONG (ER 0225), CHUJOMDONG (ER 0426), SONGSAENGDONG (ER 0826), passing MYON office FUDONGMYON (ER 1226), passing North of CHUWANSAN (ER 1426) and on to KALCHON (ER 1827). Arr at KALCHON o/a 29 Jan 51.
30 Jan 51 - Left SHINSULRI (ER 1925) passing PONGSANGDONG (ER 2224), YOKSANDONG (ER 2225), SANGODONG (ER 2428), HAO DONG (ER 2429), TAEJIDONG (ER 2727) KWANGSAN DONG (ER 2825), KUNGGIDONG (ER 2823), OKSANDONG (ER 2522) arriving SUGUDONG o/a 4 Feb 51.
5 Feb 51 - Arrived SINGI (ER 2418) and headed for TONGDAESAN (ER 2617) through MASURI (ER 2517). PW believes the Regt headed east through the village S of TONG DAE SAN. Here the wounded were left behind and PW was captured 9 Feb 51.

d. Weapons & Equipment:
1 Mortar (82mm) with no ammo
2 HMG with 500 rd/HMG
2 LMG with 250 rd per LMG
20 PPSh SMG with 70 rd per PPSh SMG
5 Carbines with 50 rd per carbine
50 M1 Rifle with 70 rd per M1 Rifle
Rest of the men carried Russian rifles but had no ammo.

e. Status of Supply:
No resupply of ammo, clothing or medicine. Food and shelter were taken in villages.

f. Morale:
Low

g. Most Effective Weapon:
Plane bombardment.

h. Background:
PW was a farmer before entering the army and was in the farmer’s union. 10 Jul 50 he was conscripted, was appointed cadre and given the rank of Jr Sgt in the 1st replacement Regt of I Corps.
