1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was in good physical condition at time of interrogation. Cooperative and of average intelligence. Information considered fairly reliable. Recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Unit Organization, Strength and Equipment:
I NK Corps composed of the 8th, 17th and 47th Div. 47th Div composed of 1st, 2nd, 3rd Regt, Engr Bn, Transportation Co, Communications Co, and Arty Bn. Engr Bn composed of 3 Engr Co and a Food Supply Section. The code for the Engr Bn was 370 Unit.

6 men were killed accidently by their own mines while attempting to remove them and two men were taken as PW.
Observed 3x76mm M1943 Guns in the Arty Bn but believes there are more. Transportation Co had 3 ZIS 151 and one GAZ 51 trucks. Engr Bn had many oxen, saws, picks and shovels. There was no heavy construction equipment. Approx 170 land mines in Bn.

b. Unit Assignment and Intentions:
Mission of Bn was to lay mines between INCH’ON and KYESU-RI (CS061469). PW unit planted three mines between these two points. The above mines were already blown when PW volunteered to point out the locations, 11 Feb 51.
6 Feb 51, Engr Bn received orders from 47th Div Hq to evacuate to KYESU-RI and go to RORYOSHIN (CS183533).

c. Disposition:
6 Feb 51, heard from his Bn CO that 8th Div was located in vic YONGDUNGPO.
Heard from his Bn CO 6 Feb 51, that 47th Div CP was located approx 4 km E of RORYOSHIN (CS183533).
7 Feb 51, observed 17th Div in vic SEOUL.
8 Feb 51, heard from a soldier of 8th Div, that there were numerous CCF troops in SEOUL and vic.

d. Communications:
Unit used telephones and runners.

LEE, Myon Soon (李明淳), Maj, CO, Engr Bn, 47th Div

f. Armor:
5 Feb 51, observed 4 T-34/85 tanks heading W in vic of INCH’ON. 6 Feb 51, observed two of the same type of tanks heading toward SEOUL from SOSA (CS0550).

g. Morale:
Morale in unit was relatively low due to lack of fire power, inexperience troops, lack of food, insufficient clothing, fear of air attacks and over exhaustion. Men in unit were in poor physical condition.

h. Chronology:
1 Oct 50, conscripted into the NKA 47th Div, 3rd Regt, Supply Section at SINUIJU. Commissioned a Lt upon induction. 47th Div crossed the CHONGCHON River 20 Nov 50, and arrived SEOUL 7 Jan 51 via P’YONGYANG. 9 Jan 51, Div crossed the HAN River over the ice at a point below the damaged concrete bridge. After crossing the HAN River, 1st Regt went 4 km South of CHORWANG-Ni (CS091498); 2nd Regt went 4 km South of PUPYONG (BS9956); 3rd Regt arrived KUWOL-LI (BS990465) 11 Jan 51. 13 Jan 51, at KUWOL-LI, PW was transferred from 3rd Regt to Engr Bn, 47th Div and was appointed Bn Supply Officer. 16 Jan 51, PW departed KUWOL-LI on foot and arrived at KYESU-RI (CS061469) 19 Jan 51. Remained there until date of capture, transporting food supplies between INCH’ON and KYESU-RI. During period 19 Jan 51 to 9 Feb 51, PW made three trips, transporting 15 sacks of rice by ox cart on each trip. Captured while waiting for transportation to arrive from Engr Bn Hq which had evacuated to the rear (4 km E of RORYOSHIN (CS183533) 8 Feb 51.

i. Food and Ammo Supplies:
Food was insufficient in unit. Food supplies (rice and millet) stored in warehouses, were found by NKA troops in INCH’ON. These were distributed to various NKA units. Each man in PW unit received a ration of 900 grams of food per meal, which was served twice a day. Unit received 45 sacks of rice and millet (15 days ration) from the INCH’ON ration distribution point.
Ammo supply insufficient because the original supply was never replenished.

j. Psychological Warfare:
Did not observe any UN leaflets nor hear any broadcasts.

k. Prisoners of War:
Observed three US PW at NAMSAN (SEOUL City) 8 Jan 51

i. Medical:
Did not receive any immunizations. Had no knowledge of any disease in his unit.

m. Effectiveness of Night Bombing:
Unit was never subjected to night bombing.

4. REMARKS:
PW was previously interrogated by the 25th IPW Team. Incorporating 25th LDI No. unk, dtd 10 Feb 51.
