1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was uncooperative, although he replied to questions asked.
Information seems reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
Conscripted in Oct 50 at P’YONGYANG
Commissioned as 1st Lt upon conscription.
Assigned to the 3rd Regt, 47th Div.
Departed P’YONGYANG on 2 Oct 50 and arrived SINUIJU on the same day, travelling by truck.
Remained until 12 Oct 50.
47th Div departed on 12 Oct 50, arrived at SONGHONG in Oct 50 and at KUSONG (XE9228) 20 Oct 50.
The Division engaged UN forces for 2 days at KUSONG.
Departed KUSONG on 22 Oct 50 and arrived at YONGBYON (YE4011) on 25 Oct 20.
The Div engaged UN forces at YONGBYON for 1 week.
The 47th Div was relieved by the CCF on 2 Nov 50 and departed for SAKCHU (XE7472), arriving on 4 Nov 50.
Departed on 23 Nov 50 from SAKCHU and arrived at KUSONG on 23 Nov 50, rested 1 week there.
Departed KUSONG on 30 Nov 50 and arrived at P’YONGYANG 4 Dec 50.
Departed P’YONGYANG 19 Dec 50 and arrived at SEOUL on 1 Jan 51.
Departed SEOUL on 4 Jan 51 and arrived at INCHON on 7 Jan 51.
PW departed SEOUL on 7 Jan 51 with the rear echelon units and arrived at KUWOL RI (BS9847) on 11 Jan 51.
Retreated from INCHON 3 Feb 51 to present location.
PW was captured on 9 Feb 51 while retreating.

b. Location and Activities of Unit:
The 47th Div was believed to have been in the western outskirts of YONDUMGPO with elements of 8th Div.
PW heard of the 8th Div defending ANYANG.
He also heard of CCF troops being in positions on the eastern flank of the 47th and 8th Div.
The 47th Div arrived in the INCHON area on 7 Jan 51 with the mission of defending that area. The Div retreated to its present location on 3 Feb 51.
The mission of the division, presently is to defend “NORYANGJIN” in SEOUL.

Engr Bn strength was estimated to be 203 troops. Six casualties suffered up to the time of capture.

d. Personalities:
Ho, Nam Sul (호남술), Lt Col, CO, 3rd Regt, 47th Div

e. Armor, Artillery and Aircraft:
3 unknown sized guns were seen being pulled northward in SEOUL on wagons. No ammo seen.

f. Supplies:
Food procured locally in insufficient amounts and transported by wagons.
The Engr was received 4 bags of rice and 6 bags of corn daily. It was not sufficient for the troops.
Approx 48 bags of rice and 67 bags of corn were shipped northward to SEOUL by the 47th Div from INCHON warehouses.

g. Morale:
Morale was low due to the intense cold and insufficient food and clothing.

h. UN PW:
3 British PW were seen on 8 Jan 51 at NAMSAN, SEOUL being fed by the NKA 17th Div.

i. Psychological Warfare:
PW was captured and had not seen leaflets.
