PW was suffering from a back ailment; interrogation was conducted at a field Hosp. PW was cooperative. Reliability Good.
a. Chronology:
7 Nov 50 - Conscripted at NOJON NI (BU 9587) by the 1st Partisan Brig and assigned as Plat Ldr.
8 Nov 50 - Brig departed NOJON NI to TOKCHON NI (DT 3613).
15 Dec 50 - Brig arrived TOKCHON NI.
17 Dec 50 - Brig departed TOKCHON NI for HACHEU NI (2km N of 38 Parallel).
18 Dec 50 - Arrived HACHEU NI. Received machine-gun fire from an estimated 1 Bn of ROK troop. Battle lasted 30 minutes. This unit retreated to a nearby mountain. By noon, 2 Con of guerrillas surrounded the ROK troops and captured 6 PW. PW unit suffered 6 KIA. That night Brig departed ORIOL, headed south.
7 Jan 51 - Arrived CHANGGHON (DS 4679), foot of Mt. PANGTAESAN. Following day departed for HACHEU NI (N of PYONGCHANG)
12 Jan 51 - Brig arrived HACHEU NI. The 3rd Co 410 Unit (bn) left for a place 8km N of PYONGCHANG to reconnoiter the area. There 6 ROK troops were taken PW. The 3rd Co returned to MACHEU NI.
13 Jan 51 - Brig departed MACHEU NI and arrived PYONGCHANG that evening.
14 Jan 51 - Brig departed PYONGCHANG for YONGWOL (DS 5315). Arrived at a point 8km N of YONGWOL. Observed 2nd and 3rd Partisan Brigs. 2nd Brig was deactivated because whereabouts of 1st Bn was unk. Personnel transferred to 1st and 3rd Brig. (1st Brig strength - 800 men)
15 Jan 51 - 1st and 3rd Brig departed this area for YONGWOL. 1st Brig dug defense position at HUNAM NI (12km NE of YONGWOL), while the 3rd Brig continued to YONGWOL. Contacted UN troops. 3rd Brig retreated back to HUNAM NI due to heavy casualties.
20 Jan 51 - 1st and 3rd Brigs retreated north (further destination unk). Due to a back ailment PW was left behind.
5 Feb 51 - While enroute to WONJU PW captured.

1st Brig composed of 4 Bns. Each Bn composed of 3 Cos. Each Co 3 Plats, and each Plat 3 Sqd. Each Co: 1 female medic. (attached) There were also a Ren Plat and Med attached to the Brig.

k. Morale:
Morale was low, due to exhausting marches and no resupply of ammo. There were times when rice were eaten every ten days. Usually ate corn, millet twice a day.

The Political Section of the 1st Brig was composed of the:

#2 Propaganda Section 7 men
#3 Police Section 2 men (under cover)
30 men were suffering from frostbit.
