PW was of below average intelligence. Information considered fairly reliable. Not recommended for further interrogation.
a. Chronology:
338th Regt composed of 1100 men, had 2 x 81 mm mortars, 5 x 60 mm mortars, 6 HMG (2000 - 2500 rd per MG), 18 LMG (1000 rd per MG), 2 US Bazookas, arrived in vic of CS 602389 and was told to hold this position at all cost. O/a 131700 Feb 51 PW unit was attacked by UN forces (arty & air bombardment) and the 4th Co became disorganized and retreated generally N to unk location. During this engagement PW was wounded and became separated o/a 131900 Feb 51. Slept overnight in draw with a wounded US soldier. Proceeded S o/a 140600 Feb 51.
b. Locations of Units:
2nd Bn CP located 3 km generally N from place of capture. 338th Regt CP located 8 km N in unk village.
c. Reinforcements:
No knowledge of 338th Regt receiving immediate reinforcement. Heard from political leader approx. 17-18 days ago that CCF replacements arrived at unk location N of HAN River.
d. Weapons:
PW observed 3 arty pieces (cal unk) approx 20 days ago at N bank of HAN River.
