1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative but very unobservant.
PW did not remember place names and dates of travel since crossing the YALU River.
Information seemed unreliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
PW conscripted 15 April 38 into the CNA 37th Army (國民軍) at YUNNAN SHENG (雲南省).
Oct 49, the entire 37th Army (approx 1,500 men) surrendered to the 38th Army at HSINMIN SHENG (신민) in SHENYANG (奉天).
Assigned to the 38th Army, 112th Div, 335th Regt, 3rd Bn, HMG Co, 1st Plat, 2nd Sqd.
After remaining in SHENYANG for a month, the 38th Army travelled to TIENCHIN (天津) in Nov 49.
After remaining 11/2 months, the 38th Army travelled to TIENCHIN (天津) from SHENYANG. It took approx one month.
In March 50, the entire 38th Army departed from TIENCHIN on foot and arrived at KWANGHSI SHENG (廣西省). It took about 11/2 months.
The 38th Army was engaged in combat against the CNA troops for approx one month in KWANGHSI SHENG.
The 38th Army departed from KWANGHSI SHENG and arrived at YUNNAN HSIEN (雲南省) in HUNAN SHENG via HANKOU (漢口) after travelling approximately 20 days.
After remaining in HUNAN SHENG for 6 months, the 38th Army travelled by train and arrived at SHENYANG in July 50.
After resting for one month, the entire 38th Army departed by train and arrived at ANTUNG (安東). From ANTUNG, the 112th Div crossed the YALU River and entered KOREA via SINUIJU (XE 1839) in Sep 50.
Since Sep 50, PW travelled southward with the 335th Regt of the 112th Div. However, no dates and place names were available because of unfamiliarity with Korean geography.

112th Div: 331st, 332nd and 335th Rifle Regiments. Engr Co, Med Bn, Special Duty Co, Ammo carrier Bn.
335th Regt: 3 Rifle Battalions (1st code name: 34, 2nd code name: 36 and 3rd code name: 36).
3rd Bn: 3 Rifle Companies, HMG Co.

c. Supplies:
PW ate twice a day, and these meals were adequate.
Food (rice) was obtained locally since entering KOREA.

d. Medical:
No immunization or counter-measures taken.
Two out of every 10 men were suffering from frostbit and frozen feet in PW unit. These patients received no medical aid.

e. Psychological Warfare:
PW picked up three UN leaflets at an unknown location 6 Feb 51.
PW could not describe them because he was illiterate.
After learning its contents from comrades, PW decided to desert the unit if possible.
The troops talked about deserting. Most of them hid leaflets when an officer approached.
