1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW deserted 4 Feb 51. PW cooperative, but information limited. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Mission: The mission of 10th Div was to cut the UNMSR in the ANDONG and TAEGU Area. Objective was to take PUSAN.

b. Strength of Unit.
120mm Mortar Bn attached to 10th Div and consisted of three companies.
4 Feb 51 - Hq of 10th Div was located at TAEHAENG DONG (ER 1033), but on night of 4 Feb 51, 10th Div Hq started to retreat toward PAL GOK-WAN (approx. 8 Km E of TAE HAENG DONG (HR 1033).

c. Chronology:
5 Dec 50 - At the time 10th Div reorganized at YANGGU, North KOREA, PW transferred from “NAMHAE” (South Sea) Brigade to Anti-Tank Bn of 10th Div.
10 Dec 50 - 10th Div left YANGGU for HWACH’ON.
11 Dec 50 - 10th Div arrived at HWACH’ON and stayed there two days.
13 Dec 50 - Left for CHUNG CHON and arrived same day.
14 Dec 50 - 10th Div went to KAPYONG and engaged in combat about three days.
17 Dec 50 - 10th Div withdrew to HWACH’ON.
24 Dec 50 - 10th Div left HWACH’ON for South, via HONG CHON, HOENG SONG, YONG WEI, TANGYANG.
17 Jan 51 - 10th Div arrived in ANDONG Area.
O/a 25 Jan 51 - 10th Div arrived in CHONG SONG (ER 0531). Route between ANDONG to CHONG SONG was unknown because troops traveled only during nights.
26 Jan 51 - After engaging in fire fight at CHONG SONG, 10th Div retreated to SANGSA-RI (ER 0112) and HASA-RI (ER 0712). Stayed there two days.
28 Jan 51 - Left HASA-RI for TAEHANG DONG.
3 Feb 51 - Arrived TAEHANG DONG.
4 Feb 51 - 10th Div Hq moved out toward PAL GOK SAN (ER 2123), approximately 8 Km E of TAEHANG DONG. On that night PW escaped from his unit.

d. Personalities:
10th Div CG: Maj Gen LEE BAK NAM (李白南), 37.
120mm Mortar Bn CO: Lt Col YU fnu.
Plat Ldr: Jr Lt HAN Tu Kyon.

e. Weapons and Equipment: 3 Feb 51 in 120mm Indep Bn at TAEHANG DONG.

f. Status of Supply; Route of Supply:
Ammo - Only what they carried.
Food - Procured forceably from villagers.
Clothing - Wearing some uniform since leaving YANGGU. 60% in uniform, 40% in civilian clothes.

g. Other Unit: Latter part of Dec 1950.
PW observed 2nd Div, 5th Div, and 7th Div at HONGCH’ON. They were wearing CCF uniforms.

h. Morale: Fair

i. The Most Effective Weapons: Air strikes and artillery.

j. UN PW:
PW heard that his Plat Ldr observed six American PW at TAEHAN DONG 3 Feb 51.
