2. ASSESSMENT:
PW appeared to be in good physical condition at time of interrogation. PW was a farmer prior to entering the service. PW was cooperative and of average intelligence. Information obtained considered reliable. Recommended for further interrogation.

50th Army composed of the 148th, 149th, 150th Div, a Guard Bn, an Arty Regt, a Sig Bn, a Medical Bn and a Transportation Bn. 150th Div Composed of 448th, 449th, 450th Regt, Arty Bn, Guard Co, Sig Co and a Medical Unit. The 449th Regt composed of 3 Inf Bn, Mortar Co, AT Co, Guard Plat, Recon Plat and a Medical Plat. The 2nd Bn composed of 3 Rifle Co and a HMG Co. Each Rifle Co composed of 3 rifle plat and a Mortar Sqd.

Heavy casualties were inflicted by air and artillery bombardment. Few were killed by small arms fire.

b. Equipment:
The Arty Regt (atchd to Army) had 8 arty pieces (size unk) when the unit was stationed at ANTUNG. PW has no knowledge of whether or not this unit crossed the boarder into KOREA. Mortar Co (atchd to Regt) had 4 x 81mm mortars and 2 x 82mm mortars. AT Co (atchd to Regt) had 4 x 49mm AT Guns. HMG Co had 4 Maxim HMG. Each Rifle Co had 2 x 60mm mortars.

c. Unit Mission and Intentions:
PW heard from his Bn CO, o/a 27 Jan 51, that their intention was to drive all the UN forces out of KOREA. The unit's mission was to hold their position at CS382316.

d. Disposition:
Two div of the 38th Army was supporting the 150th Div on the left flank as of 1 Feb 51. PW believes that these two div have been withdrawn since.

e. Communications:
Messengers were used for communications between Co level units. Portable telephones were used by Bn and higher echelons.

f. Chronology:
PW volunteered for the CNA 60th Army, 182nd Div 30 Jan 41 at WOLNAM (越南). He served with this unit for approx 8 yr until he was captured by the CCF 15 Dec 48 at JINJU (錦州). PW integrated into the CCF 50th Army. 50th Army arrived at ANTUNG o/a 31 Oct 50 and remained there for 2 days. 2 Nov 50, 449th Regt crossed the border into KOREA. PW unit took the mountain trails and crossed the CHONGCHONG River o/a 7 Dec 50. PW unit arrived at SEOUL via PYONGYANG o/a 7 Jan 51. (exact route taken unknown). 449th Regt marched across the frozen HAN River o/a 8 Jan 51 4 km SE of SEOUL. (exact location unk). Regt marched to KUMYANGJANG (CS4122) arriving o/a 11 Jan 51. PW unit remained at this location until 26 Jan 51 setting up defensive positions. 26 Jan 51, 449th Regt came in contact with unknown UN forces and was engaged in battle for 5 days. During these 5 days the 448th, 449th and 450th Regt of the 150th Div suffered a heavy loss in men and equipment. 1 Feb 51, PW and 3 others deserted their unit and surrendered waving a white flag to elements of the 15th RCT.

h. Morale:
Morale of PW unit was low because the majority of the men were former CNA soldiers and they detested fighting US troops. Also there was a shortage of food in PW unit.

i. Food and Ammo Supplies:
Food was procured locally. Each rifleman was issued 100 rd prior to coming to KOREA. At present each rifleman has 40-50 rd. No additional ammo received since coming to KOREA.

j. Psychological Warfare:
PW picked up 2 UN surrender leaflets o/a 7 Jan 51, at SEOUL. Since then PW intended to surrender.

k. Foreign Technicians:
There was one Chinese interpreter (Korean) attached to each Co.

l. Medical:
PW received one immunization shot (type unk) after entering KOREA. A contagious disease (unk) is spreading in his unit. Approx 10-15 men in each Co are afflicted with this disease.

m. Effectiveness of Night Bombing:
Night bombing was fairly effective. PW unit was subjected to night bombing several times. Casualties suffered by PW unit was between 5010 at each bombing. (Time and place of bombing unk).
