a. Units:
6th and 7th Div under V Corps and II Corps was situated on the left flank of V Corps, in vicinity of TUNNAE MYON on 24 Jan 51.

e. Supply:
(1) Ammo: No recent resupply of small arms ammo. However, about 100 men were dispatched to north to pick up mortar shells at 041830 Feb 51.
(2) Food: Troops were already prepared with a week’s provision for the coming offensive (8 Feb 51).
(3) Med: Although a great majority of troops are suffering from a contagious disease, only officers seem to get medical attention.
f. Intention:
V and II Corps in conjunction with the entire enemy force will participate in a fourth general offensive on the Eve of 8th Feb 51. Physically speaking, the troops of V Corps are in readiness except for those who are suffering from minor diseases (30% - 5 Feb 51).
Men of 6th and 7th Div rested a month in preparation for this new offensive, in which PUSAN will be their ultimate goal.

Pass-words during period go into effect when sun falls or when the area gets dark; they are not often used during day-light.
4 Feb 51: “KYONGGI” (meaning: - LMG)
5 Feb 51: “TANCHAN” (meaning: - Cartridge Magazines)
i. Medical:
According to the Medics of 7th Div, approx 60% of 7th Div were affected with a disease in middle Jan. This figure decreased to 30% by 5 Feb 51. Symptoms of the disease were: Headache, followed by High Fever. Patients were isolated in different areas.
Due to the fact that many patients affected by this disease recovered, and patients are able to march along with other troops, the disease appears to be of minor concern.
j. UN PW:
5 US PW were observed at SANGJON NI (DS2049) from 17 Jan 51 to 27 Jan 51. PW wore complete field uniforms with parkas. These PW were confined in caves at all times; fed and treated well, and not subject to details like 5 ROK PW. It was rumored that these 5 US PW were captured in NORTH KOREA when the 7th Div swept southward and would be turned over to CCF units.
k. Activity:
(1) Night: Troops descended to the villages to husk rice and make rice cakes for emergency supply.
(2) Day: Slept in wooded hills or in caves. Usually when troops slept in the hills, small tee-pee like shelters were made with pine tree branches and thick layers of straw were placed over the snow. Source believes that these shelters are hard to detect from air and are effectively blended with the landscape.
O/a 051700 Feb 51, at SANGJON NI (DS2049), a US Arty shell fell near the guard who was guarding ROK PW. During this excitement source and another escaped, however, the other was recaptured.
