INTERROGATOR: Cpl OZAKI

2. ASSESSMENT:
A complete interrogation was impossible since source constantly changed his answers when questions were repeated. His memory as to locations, time, route of travel, and enemy strength was very poor. Information unreliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology
O/a 192200 Jan 51, subject was taken prisoner by guerrillas while standing on guard. Due to the fact that the enemy already knew the countersign, source was careless when enemy approached. He doesn't know where capture took place nor does he know where his Co was situated prior to his being captured.
After taking subject prisoner, the band traveled approx 2km south and remained there for two days, later moving to SOKKI DONG (DR 5270), and arriving there 212400 Jan 51. Guerrillas remained in the hills vicinity SOKKI DONG during daylight hours and raided the villages during darkness for food. Guerrillas slept during day, concealing themselves with tree leaves and straw mats so as to evade detection by UN planes.
O/a 251200 Jan 51, UN planes attacked and bombed SOKKI DONG area, causing the band to disorganize. Source escaped as enemy fled south over crest of hills. Enemy loss during this raid could not be estimated.
In all, there were 10 ROK PW; however, only source himself escaped. During captivity PW were forced to prepare and haul food under guard.
Guerrillas claimed that they were part of 6th Div and that 2 Regt of this Div have already been deployed toward TAEGU to capture that city. In this particular band there were approx 300 men.
Majority wore US fatigues with native clothes over them. Officers wore same.
Weapons include:
US M-1 Rifles 80
Carbines 20
PPSH SMG 10
Russian rifles 160
LMG 1
Pistols 4
W/ammo issue of 15 rd ea men.
30% of guerrillas seemed to be South Koreans to judge from their native dialects and accents.
