50th Army: 148th, 149th, and 150th Rifle Div, Arty Regt, and Security Bn.
149th Div: 445th, 446th, and 447th Rifle Regt and a Mountain Gun Bn.
447th Regt: 3 Rifle Bn, Security Co, 82mm Mortar Co, Signal-Recon Co, Staff Section, Political Section, Supply Section, and Medical Unit.
Signal-Recon Co: 3 Plat (1st - Signal, 2nd - Recon and 3rd - Telephone).

NOTE: Telephone Plat received 4 Km of wire while the unit was near SEOUL o/a 6 Jan 51. Also, picked up 7½ Km of wire at PAKCHON (YD 2198) about 2 months ago. 3 Japanese make telephones were picked up in SEOUL o/a 6 Jan 51. 6 USSR make telephones were issued to the unit near PAKCHON about 2 months ago. The strength of the unit was increased from 36 to 51, about a month ago. This was done because the importance and inadequacy of communications was noticed from combat operation experiences in KOREA. For telephone calls the following numbers were used to denote key personnel:

NOTE: 50 trucks entered KOREA with the 50th Army. PW observed 20 trucks of the 50th Army destroyed by UN air strikes. PW heard that the trucks were attacked repeatedly. Supplies carried by trucks never reached their destination.
Personnel losses were caused chiefly by UN air strikes and Arty. Very few losses by desertions and illness.
The 50th Army was never used as an attacking force.
O/a 5 Feb 51, the 447th Regt was in the UNJUNG NI (CS 2739) area retreated toward SEOUL.
When the 447th Regt was attacked by UN forces near UNJUNG NI o/a 1 Feb 51, PW heard from the Political Officer, 447th Regiment, that the 38th, 39th, and 40th Armies are located 3 days march from UNJUNG NI. Previously, PW heard from the Political Officer, 447th Regt, that the 38th, 39th, and 40th Armies were resting in the SEOUL Area.
PW heard from the Political Officer, 447th Regt, that 5 Armies of the 4th Field Army and 4 Armies of the 3rd Field Army, a total of 9 CCF Armies, were in KOREA. Units of the 3rd Field Army were to attack south in the Eastern sector as the units of the 4th Field Army attacked south in the Western sector.
PW conscripted into the CNA Aug 42 at YUNNAN SHENG (雲南省) and was assigned to CNA 19th Division.
Sep 45, 19th Div arrived at ANNAN (安南省).
Feb 46, 19th Div arrived at HULUTAO (芦芦島).
Sep 46, 19th Div arrived at FUSHUN (拊順).
Jan 47, 19th Div arrived at CHILIN (吉林).
Feb 48, 19th Div retreated toward CHANGCHUN (長春) after engaging the CCF at the CHILIN Area.
17 Oct 48, the entire 19th Div capitulated to a CCF unit.
PW and approx 400 officers and NCO were sent to TSITSIHAR (齐口哈爾) on 20 Oct 48 where they received training in communist doctrine.
Aug 49, PW was sent to HUPEI (湖北) where he was assigned to the newly organized CCF 50th Army.
Oct 49, 50th Army arrived at SSUCHUAN (四川).
Mar 50, 50th Army arrived at HUPEI (湖北) where the unit was engaged in farming.
Sep 50, 50th Army departed HUPEI and arrived at ANTUNG (安東).
During the end of Sep 50, 447th Regt crossed the YALU River from ANTUNG and marched and arrived at CHOLSAN (XE 4303). After remaining at CHOLSAN for one week, the 447th Regt departed and travelled to PAKCH'ON (YD 2198), arriving there during early Nov 50.
During the middle of Nov 50, the 447th Regt departed PAKCH'ON and marched through P'YONGYANG and arrived at a place just north of 38th Parallel and north of SEOUL, arriving there during early Dec 50.
447th Regt passed through SEOUL o/a 6 Jan 51 and arrived UNJUNG NI.
447th Regt departed UNJUNG NI, travelled to SUWON (CS 2428), and returned to UNJUNG NI during the middle of Jan 51.
447th Regt was attacked by UN Forces o/a 1 Feb 51 at UNJUNG NI. The 447th Regt withdrew toward SEOUL o/a 5 Feb 51.
PW remained in the UNJUNG NI Area to pick up telephones and wire of 447th Regt but could not contact the unit on 5 Feb 51.
PW and three others surrendered to the US 3rd Div on 051600 I Feb 51 at CHANGSA RI (CS 281 362).

The 447th Regt has never received any replacements since arriving in KOREA, except for the 15 men added to the unit in Jan 51.
Food was procured locally from farmers in exchange for a procurement slip. Food was generally insufficient. Troops were fed two meals a day.
447th Regt had never received a supply of ammo since entering KOREA.
Telephones were used for communication at Bn and Regt. Rifle Co, defending important positions during combat operations, were given telephones.
Div and higher echelons used wireless.
A switchboard was set up in the Regt Signal Officers. See T/O & E Section for further Signal Information.
Morale of the 447th Regt troops was fairly low because of hiding during the day; marching during night. Most of the troops were home sick because they have been away from CHINA for three months.
PW heard rumors that approx 60 US PW were sent into NORTH KOREA.
Approx 8 to 9 persons in the PW Co were suffering from Malaria. Many troops in the 447th Regt were suffering from Malaria. This was first noticed after the 447th Regt entered South KOREA. Those afflicted were evacuated through channels.
Approx 10% of the 447th Regt troops were suffering from frozen feet or frost bite. At first, Chinese herb plaster "KAOYAO" was applied to the affected area, but due to the lack of medicine, treatment ceased.
a. Did you surrender voluntarily? If so, why?
a. Yes. PW surrendered because he was separated from his unit.
b. Did you see any UN leaflets or hear UN loudspeaker broadcasts?
a. Yes. In the PAKCHON Area.
c. Can you describe what they said?
a. It urged the CCF to surrender: "What are you fighting for? Fair treatment is assured you if you surrender".
d. What was your reaction to them?
a. PW believed and was awaiting an opportunity to surrender.
e. Did you hear other soldiers discuss leaflets or broadcasts? What did they say or do?
a. Unit commanders told the troops not to surrender, that the leaflet was false.
