2. ASSESSMENT:
Apprehended by above police while standing guard in the vic of TUMA-RI (TA-0202)
Not recommended for further interrogation.
PW appeared alert, but at times seemed to be holding back information.

b. Chronology:
21 Apr 50 - Entered Service
26 Dec 50 - 10th Div reorganized at HWACH'ON. Strength after reorganizing - 2000. 1700 left HWACH'ON for south.
25 Jan 51 - Arrived vic of ANDONG (E side of city).
28 Jan 51 - Arrived vic of HASADONG.
29 Jan 51 - Arrived TUMA-RI 0630. Attacked by UN force o/a 1500 and was captured. Mission of Arty Regt was to severe UN MSR (time and place unk) and to give support to the 25th Regt, then located in TUMA-RI. Arty Regt and 25th Regt were in TUMA-RI AREA as of 291500 when they were attacked by UN forces. Disposition of troops after attack unk.

c. Personalities:
CO Arty Regt: Lt Col CHANG, Ki Yul (張基烈), Plat Ldr: Jr Lt CHO, Son Hyu (趙松烋).

d. Weapons and Equipment:
Originally at HWACH'ON: 8x76mm Arty pieces
4x120mm Arty pieces
Present weapons and equipment in Arty Regt:
4x60mm mortars with 20 rd ea mort

e. Ammo: No resupply of ammo.

f. Food: Limited, procured from villagers. Average 2 meals a day.

g. Medical: PW claims his unit had large quantity of medicines against internal diseases but none for typhus. Typhus appeared in his unit 20 Jan 51 affecting 600 men. PW heard that 27th and the 29th Regt were also suffering from typhus, but less than his Arty Regt.

h. Other Units:
27th and 29th Regt were known to PW, but disposition was unk. 50% of the personnel in the 25th Regt were Koreans who were educated in MANCHURIA, and spoke Chinese fluently.

i. Morale:
Morale was low. PW doubts that a good-conduct pass would incite surrender. Officers still command at pistol point.
