1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
Evaluation: PW was cooperative in answering questions and information seems to be reliable.
Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. CHRONOLOGY:
PW stated that Special Unit of National Welfare Dept was organized with approx 200 former civil prisoners at ANBYONG, approx 12 kms south of WONSAN on 30 Sep 50. PW believes that this Special Unit is a training and replacement unit.
PW was inducted into this unit at WONSAN on 30 Sep 50 and received approx 6 days training. This unit started to withdraw toward KANGGYE (BA9837), 5 Oct 50, but PW and one other escaped from unit at SINJANG (BV5222) on 28 Oct 50. They were hiding in SANGCHO-RI village 20 kms west of TOKCH’ON (BV6904), when they were captured by UN Forces on or about 1700 24 Nov 50.
On or about 19 Nov PW observed approx 1,000 CCF troops (Unit unk) traveling toward TOKCH’ON (BV6904) through SANGCHO-RI. Half of them were armed with Japanese rifles, and had 2 or 3 hand grenades per man. He also observed approx 10 horses with this unit. O/a 1700 23 Nov 50, observed approx 40 CCF troops traveling through mountain which is located approx 1 km east of SANGCHO-RI. They were heading in NE direction. They were armed with approx 15 Japanese rifles.
