Subject and 20 others were captured apprx 8 km (direction unk) from KAPYONG CS6981 on 040200 Jan 51 by elements of CCF. They were marched to KAPYONG arriving 040530 Jan 51.
On 5 Jan subject and apprx 600 other SK PWs from 2nd ROK Div were utilized as common laborers. They were forced to haul rice to a small village (10 houses) apprx 7 - 8 miles from KAPYONG on main road leading to CHUNCHON, CS8893 during night hours. Enroute to small village subject observed 1 Bn strength of CCF on main road marching toward CHUNCHON.
Subject and 600 others were forced to haul ammo from the same houses where the rice was stored to KAPYONG. Ammo for small arms and arty was hauled. These ammo were store in 2 large warehouses formerly utilized to store rice. Subject stated that the 2 large warehouses painted black are located near the main road in KAPYONG.
On 6 Jan same duty was performed by same number of men. No CCF troops observed enroute.
On 072000 Jan 51 subject and 2 others volunteered to cook rice for 30 men (CCF) and escaped in absence of guards. While confined at KAPYONG subject observed great numbers of CCF and NK troops (exact number unknown). No heavy weapons or vehicles observed. No US PWs observed.
Route taken after escape unknown to subject. Arrived at ICHON CS620265 081100 Jan 51. Enroute to ICHON no enemy troops observed. Countless numbers of refugees observed at ICHON. Heard from refugees that elements of CCF had advanced to location apprx 12 km NNW of ICHON. Took main route and arrived at CHANCHOWON-NI CS9707 090530 Jan. Enroute to CHONGJU subject was picked up by friendly forces.
