FIELD REPORT (24 Div - LDI - 0146)　14 January 1951

Subject became a straggler at MOKTONG-NI CS 7394 020200 Jan 51. Proceeded south and arrived at unknown village on 022200 Jan 51. No CCF or NK troops observed enroute. Stayed at this location for approx 3 days. Departed unknown village on 051100 Jan 51 and arrived at unknown location approx 12 km North of HONGCHON DS 0271 at 060200 Jan 51. No enemy troops, heavy weapons, vehicles or carts observed enroute. At this location heard from villages that unknown number of CCF troops located vicinity HONGCHON. Departed 060300 Jan 51 and proceeded south for WONJU DS 0733 by was of mountain path. Enroute at SAMMACHI-RI DS 0365 observed approx Bn strength of NK troops armed with PPSH SMGs (no unk) and rifles, bivouaced in surrounding area. NK troops were observed at 071700 Jan 51. Arrived vicinity DS 0045 on 080500 Jan 51. Enroute no CCF troops observed. At this location observed 1 Bn of CCF troops dug in at foot of mountain (south side) on 080500 Jan 51. No heavy weapons, tanks or vehicles observed. Also from this location observed approx 1 NK regt heading south on roads towards unknown location. NK troops were armed with PPSH SMGs (no unk) and rifles. No automatic or heavy weapons observed. At this location heard from villagers that undetermined number of CCF troops located 12 km north of WONJU on 080900 Jan 51. Departed this location and headed north on 080930 Jan 51 arriving at TOWON-NI CS 9656 on 081900 Jan 51. Enroute observed 7 NK troops armed with 3 PPSH SMGs and rifles. No CCF troops, heavy weapons or vehicles observed at TOWON-NI. Departed TOWON-NI 090700 Jan 51 and arrived at YONGDOGWON-NI CS 9263 on 091400 Jan 51. Enroute observed 12 NK troops armed with PPSHs and rifles on 091300 Jan 51. No CCF troops, heavy weapons, tanks, or vehicles observed at YONGDOGWON-NI. Departed from YONGDOGWON-NI 110800 Jan 51 and arrived vicinity 2 km north of YONGDU-RI CS 8656 on 111000 Jan 51. At this location heard from villager (employed as guide for CCF troops) that 15,000 CCF troops departed YONGDU-RI for TAEGON-NI CS 6987 on early morning of 11 Jan 51. Observed 3 wounded CCF troops being evacuated north on horse back at YONGDU-RI on 111030 Jan 51. Arrived at unknown village southwest of YONGDU-RI on 111300 Jan 51. Stayed at this location overnight. Departed 120900 Jan 51 and arrived in YUJU CS 7928 on 131800 Jan 51. Enroute at unknown location 3 km north of TANGU-RI CS 8332 heard from villager that unknown number of CCF troops were located at TANGU-RI on 131300 Jan 51. Observed 1 CCF Company bivouaced on mountain 4 km north of YOJU on 131430 Jan 51. No CCF troops observed in YOJU. Picked up by elements of 21st RCT at YOJU on or about 131900 Jan 51. Enroute heard from villagers that CCF and NK troops procured food locally.
