PW was picked up by elements of 929 Unit at YANGPYON CS 6749 4 Jan 51 while evacuating south, and was forced to join this unit. 929 Unit composed of apprx 80 men armed with M-1 and Russian rifles (100 rds per rifle). Unit departed YANGPYON on 8 Jan 51 for ICHON and arrived 1 1/2 mile north of ICHON 091700 Jan 51. From this location 65 men departed for SEOUL for unknown mission. The remaining 15 men were dispatched to ICHON on 111000 Jan 51 to obtain information on number and disposition of friendly troops in ICHON area. The aforementioned information was to be made available to 929 Hqs located in SEOUL by 121700 Jan 51.
At YANGPYON subject observed 100 CCF troops on 8 Jan 51. Enroute to ICHON no CCF or NK troops observed. At ICHON no enemy troops, heavy weapons and vehicles observed.
PW was shot in left thigh. One (1) was killed when attempting to escape. Subject had no knowledge of the whereabouts of the remaining 13 men. PW stated that members of 929 Unit wore civilian clothes.
