3. ESTIMATED STRENGTH OF UNIT: (As of 10 Sep 50)Rifleman armed with M-1891/30 rifles, 100 rounds, 2 grenades.

PW and 6 replacements were unarmed.
4. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:PW and 1200 men were inducted at SEOUL on 25 Jul 50. Received basic training with wooden rifles until 10 Aug 50 at UI-DONG (牛日洞) 8 Km north of SEOUL.
PW and 1200 men, unarmed, departed Ul-DONG on 11 Aug 50, crossed the HAN River by ferry, arrived ICHON on 13 Aug 50.
Departed ICHON on 14 Aug 50, marched, arrived CHUNGJU on 17 Aug 50.
Departed CHUNGJU on 18 Aug 50, marched, arrived TANYANG on 19 Aug 50.
Departed TANYANG on 20 Aug 50, marched, arrived ANDONG on 23 Aug 50 and rested 5 days.
Departed ANDONG 28 Aug 50, marched, arrived UISONG on 29 Aug 50. There, PW and 1200 men were assigned to various units in 8th Division.
PW and 100 men left UISONG on 30 Aug 50, marched, arrived KUNWI on 31 Aug 50.
Departed KUNWI on 1 Sep 50, marched, arrived 4 Km NE of HAJANG DONG on 3 Sep 50. There PW and 6 men were assigned to the 1st Battalion.
PW was separated from his unit after artillery shelling and was captured by ROK on 10 Sep 50 at 2 Km NE of HAJANG DONG.
5. ARMOR:One (1) T-34/85 Tank observed at one (1) Km north of KUNWI. Two (2) T-34/85 Tanks observed at 3 Km south of KUNWI, o/a 31 Aug 50.
6. ARTILLERY:Two (2) truck-drawn artillery pieces observed at 5 Km NE of HAJANG DONG o/a 3 Sep 50.
7. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:All food was confiscated from farmers. Ammunition transported by SK villagers on push-carts or ox-carts.
8. ENEMY INTENTIONS:Original objective of the 8th Division was YONGCHON. However, on or about 5 Sep 50, it was changed to PUSAN via TAEGU.
9. MORALE:Morale of troops was low because they did not have the will to fight.
10. US POW’s:PW stated that on or about 15 Jul 50, he read in a NK newspaper that 300 US troops were captured at CHONAN (天安).
11. SOUTH KOREAN SENTIMENTS:Majority of South Koreans did not welcome the North Korean Army because most of their young men are in the South Korean Army.
12. MISCELLANEOUS:On or about 20 Aug 50, PW heard from officer that they have been utilizing US PW’s for repairing the HAN River Bridge to prevent US air attacks there.
