3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology: 18 Aug 50 - PW and 300 other natives of SEOUL conscripted into the NKPA. S Koreans thus conscripted came under the jurisdiction of the Volunteer Corps which was formed by the Democratic Youth Party immediately after the fall of SEOUL.

O/a 26 Aug 50 - The 300 replacements detrucked just N of the NAKTONG River. Same night, waded across the river (waist deep) at a point due north of KUNWI.
1 Sep 50 - The 300 arrived ridgeline approx 8 km N of KASAN (架山). 80, including PW, assigned to 2nd Regt. Remainder (200) probably assigned to other units of the 1st Div.
PW and 9 men assigned to 82-mm Mortar Co, 2nd Bn. A few of the replacements, including PW, were issued fairly new Russian rifles with 100-150 rounds of ammunition per man.
2 Sep 50 - 2nd Bn attacked KASAN. Details of operation unknown due to the fact that PW remained in the rear as ox tender. PW and 2 others cared for 6 oxen carrying an estimated 120 rounds of 82-mm Mortar HE shells and an undetermined amount of rice.
5 Sep 50 - Ox train arrived on top of KASAN. Remained one day. 2nd Bn deployed approx 500 m S of KASAN.
