1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative and answered all questions readily. Information seems possibly true.

3. CIRCUMSTANCES OF CAPTURE:
091400 Mar 51, the dug-in position of the 1st Plat (vic of DS215517) was attacked by UN Forces. Then the 1st Plat retreated north, PW, influenced by former ROK soldier, (who was forced into the 12th Div when he was captured by NK) surrendered together to UN Troops.

4. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Disposition:
O/a 18 Feb 51, the 12th Div left PANUN-NI (vic of DS4128) and o/a 23 Feb 51 came to the vic of ANHUNG-MYON (DS2151) where they set up a defensive line.
As of 9 Mar 51 the 1st Plat was dug in on the SW side of a Mt (vic of DS215517).
HMG Co CP was on the north slope of a Mt 2 km N of the 1st Plat.
Other elements of the 2d Bn were dug in on the east flank of the 1st Plat. 2d Bn CP was 500 meters to the north of the 1st Plat. 3d Bn was also dug in on the west flank of the 1st Plat.
5 Mar 51 heard from his Plat Ldr that the 1st Bn was 4 km SE of the 1st Plat.
23 Feb 51 observed the 3d Regt CP approx 3 km N of the 1st Plat. 5 Mar 51 heard from his plat Ldr that the 1st Regt was at rest in ANNE-RI (phonetic) approx 6 km N of the 1st Plat and that the 2d Regt was also resting approx 8 km N of 1st Plat.

b. CCF:
7 Mar 51 heard from his Plat Ldr that the CCf was in the rear of the 3d Bn.

c. Mission:
The Bn Political Officer told the troops that the mission of the 2d Bn was to defend and hold the present position at all cost until the 4th Phase Offensive began. In this 4th Phase Offensive the officer stated that tanks, arty and airplanes were to take part and all UN troops were to be pushed out of KOREA.

d. TO/E & Strength:
Present strength of the 12th Div was estimated at 2500 men, composed of the 1st, 2d and the 3d Regt.
3d Regt composed of the 1st, 2d and 3d Bn and attached Medical Co (est strength 50), Engr Co (est strength 70) and Signal Co (est strength 40).
2d Bn (present strength approx 120) composed of a Mortar Co, HMG Co and 3 Rifle Co.
Mortar Co, with the present strength of 13 men, had 2 x 82mm mortars (approx 100 rd) and 2 PPsh SMG.
HMG Co, with the present strength of 30 men, had 3 HMG (approx 400 rd each) and one-third of the troops had either Soviet rifles or SMG.
The Rifle Co, with an estimated strength of 25 men, had 3 LMG and all troops had either Soviet rifles, carbines, US M-1 rifles or PPsh SMG.

e. Code No and Names:

f. Supply: Food supply was insufficient. Troops ate twice a day of rice taken away from farmers.

g. Clothing: All troops were in winter clothing.

h. Medical: Observed 7 Mar 51, 5 men from his Bn evacuated to the rear due to illness. (Symptoms of sickness was high fever and bleeding from the nose). The Co CO told the PW that this was contagious but did not name it.

i. Morale: Morale of troops was low due to air and arty bombardment. 105mm Howitzer was the most feared UN weapon.
