Majority of casualties caused by arty and air strikes.
b. Unit Disposition:
Regt and Bn CP were on high ground vic CS 509615, 9 Mar 51. At 111530 Mar 51, 9th Co was dug in on Hill 361 CS 522617.
c. Mission:
Deserted from Hill 361 (CS522617) at 111530 Mar 51. He deserted because he was told to defend hill until killed.
d. Weapons:
1 HMG, 2 LMG, 1x60mm mortar and another larger mortar. Ammo very low.
e. Food:
Insufficient. 2 meals a day consisting of corn meal.
f. Morale:
Very low, due to poor food, and arty fire.
g. Propaganda:
Saw leaflets and also heard broadcasts. Tired of fighting and decided to surrender.
h. Replacements:
Twelve replacements assigned to his unit 2 weeks ago. They claim they all came from HUPEI, CHINA.
i. Effectiveness of night air attack:
Experienced night air attacks several times but not effective. PW claims unit lost no troops by night air attacks.
