Formerly from 3d Plat, 339th Regt Arty Btry. O/a 20 Feb 51 3d Plat (29 men) assigned to 3d Bn. 3d Plat was split up and sent to the 7th, 8th and 9th Co of 3d Bn. 101700 Mar 51, 9th Co withdrew NW due to being under strength and unable to hold against UN troops. 7th and 8th Co of 3d Bn also withdrew NW.

f. Communication:
Communication with Bn Hq by telephone. Runners are used at company level.
g. Method of Identification:
During the night, identification of CCF troops is made by wrapping a piece of white cloth around the neck or forearm. Position of white cloth is designated by Company Commander.
h. Food & Ammo:
Food is locally procured. Ammo is always hidden approx 2 km from roads.

O/a 18 Feb 51 observed approx 9 US PW on high mountain S of HAN River.

PW has picked up and read leaflets and desired to surrender but due to constant watch by superiors it was difficult.

PW heard broadcast from a plane and also on the ground. Had desired to surrender but due to constant surveillance by superiors, could not do so.
