PW and 5 others captured during retreat by 52d FA wire team when unit was overrun by UN forces. Cooperative, and of average intelligence. Information is considered fairly reliable. In good physical condition at time of interrogation.
a. Chronology:
Approx 17 days ago (23 Feb 51) the wire team, 2d Bn (3 men) was dispatched from 2d Bn Cp to 3d Bn Cp which was approx 2 2/3 miles (8 Chinese "ri") NW from PAEGUN-BONG CS 701544. The wire team was ordered to string wire from 3d Bn CP to 337th Regt Hq Security Co which was at Hill 937 CS 701544. Elements of 3d Bn were also deployed along Hill 937. Stayed here approx 12 days. O/a 7 Mar 51 heard from 337th Regt Hq Security Co CO that YONGMUN-SAN was occupied by UN Forces. O/a 7 Mar 51 2 plat of Regt Hq Security Co departed here and withdrew N towards YONGMUN-SAN. After arriving vic YONGMUN-SAN encountered UN troops on 8 Mar 51 and retreated E. 9, 10 Mar 51 wandered around hills until captured 11 Mar 51 at CS 735557.
b. Locations of Units:
7 Mar 51, 8th Co CP was approx 1 1/3 miles NW from Hill 937 on W slope vic a temple. Elements of 8th Co were deployed on W slope approx 1 mile from 8th Co CP. 7th Co was deployed on NW slope of Hill 937 and to the rear of 8th Co. 9th Co was in reserve approx 2 2/3 miles NW from Hill 937. 337th Regt was at a village approx 9 miles NW from Hill 937.

g. Reinforcements:
O/a 7 Mar 51 heard from political leader that the 2d Army Group is massed along YALU River waiting to cross into KOREA to relieve CCF troops now in KOREA. Strength of 2d Army Group approx 400,000.
h. Morale:
Morale of troops low due to lack of food and proper clothing. Promises made by superiors not fulfilled. Approx 3/4 of troops have no desire to fight.
i. Broadcast & Leaflets:
Heard air broadcast approx 10 days ago. Speech was clear. Many believe contents of leaflets and air broadcast but due to fear of being shot by their superiors, afraid to desert.
