3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
3 Dec 50 - Source was captured at IOCHUN by NKA 9th Div. Assigned to 9th Div. Source and 20 ROK PW received 15 days of anti-US propaganda.
10 Jan 51 - Source and 10 ex-ROK assigned to 15th Div, 1st Regt, 2nd Bn, Mortar Co at CHUMBANG NI (as ammo bearer).
11 Jan 51 - Entire Div departed CHUMBANG NI. Source has no knowledge of routes taken.
25 Feb 51 - Arrived PYONGCHANG and 1st Regt immediately engaged UN troops. During engagement Mortar Co fired 30 shells, and lost one man. Heard 1st Regt CO was seriously wounded by arty fire and was evacuated to the rear.
26 Feb 51 - Entire division began withdrawing northwest towards HOENGSONG. Source escaped.
28 Feb 51 - Captured at PYONGCHANG by 17th RCT.

b. Organization, Strength, and Weapons:
15th Div: 1st, 2d, and 3d Regt (other units attached unk)
1st Regt: 1st, 2d, and 3d Bn
2d Bn: 1st, 2d, and 3d Bn and a Mortar Co
Mortar Co (40 men) consisted of 1st, 2d and 3d Plat (14 men ea). Mortar Co equipment includes 4/82mm mortars w/200 shells, 27 Russ rifles w/100 rd ea, 6 PPSH SMG and 3 hand grenades each. 15 ammo bearers (including 6 ROK PW) in mortar Co carried 6 mortar shells each. An additional 110 shells were divided and carried by men of 1st, 2d and 3d Riffle Co of 2d Bn. While at CHUMBANG NI source and 6 others newly assigned were issued 6 mortar shells each. Shells were transported from 2d Bn Hq to Mortar Co on two oxen which carried two straw rice sacks (each containing 20 shells).
