Surrendered to G Co, 2d Bn, 19th RCT. PW was in good physical condition. Average intelligence, cooperative, and information considered fairly reliable.
a. Disposition
7th Co arrived at place of capture 082200 Mar 51. 1st Plat was on W slope of objective 24. 3d Plat on E slope of hill, 082400 Mar 51 3d Plat received heavy casualties (10 killed, 4 wounded) and was relieved by 2d Plat. Relief delayed by heavy mortar fire. 3d Plat withdrew but PW remained behind and surrendered.
8th Co was on hill approx 2 km W of 7th Co and 9th Co on W slope of same hill. 3d Bn Hq was on N slope of hill. 337th Regt was NE of 3d Bn.
b. Composition
339th Regt composed of 3 rifle Bn and Arty Bn. 3d Bn composed of 7th, 8th and 9th Rifle Co. HMG Co attached to 3d Bn however due to heavy casualties, remaining men were assigned to the Rifle Co. Each Rifle Co composed of 3 Rifle Plat and Hv Wpn Plat. During contact, men of Hv Wpn Plat assigned to Rifle Plat. PW from Hv Wpn Plat was assigned to 3d Rifle Plat, 7th Co.

d. Weapons
7th Co (As of 8 Mar 51):
1st Plat: 4 SMG, 4 hand grenades per man, 2 LMG (700 rd per MG).
2d Plat: 1 HMG (700 rd), 1 LMG (500 rd), 4 grenades per man.
3d Plat: 1 HMG (700 rd), 2 LMG (500 rd per MG), 4 grenades per man.
8th Co: Observed 2x60mm mortars 4 Mar 51.
9th Co: Observed 3x60mm mortars 4 Mar 51.
3d Bn: 3x81 & 82mm mortars, 2 bazookas.
Arty Bn: Heard there were 6 to 7 Jap type field guns in Bn when crossing YALU River. Did not observe arty at any time.
e. Reinforcements:
Heard replacements were enroute Dec 50, however, did not receive replacements as yet.
f. Missions:
Only mission known to PW was to hold hill at CS 621572 at all cost.
g. Leaflets:
PW has picked up leaflets. Had a friend explain contents of leaflet since PW is illiterate. Believed leaflet and intended to surrender at first opportunity. When PW plat withdrew, PW refused to withdraw with others despite his sqd ldr orders. Over half desire to surrender, however, they are constantly watched by their superiors.
