Voluntarily surrendered to 3d Bn, 21st RCT. In good physical condition at interrogation. Cooperative but of below average intelligence. Information is considered fairly reliable. Not recommended for further interrogation. PW was formerly a CNA soldier.
a. Chronology:
PW was attached to Regt Hq Co and approx 80 men arrived position Hill 937 CS 701544 approx 15 days ago. Heard friend say mountain name was PAEGUNSAN. Engaged UN Forces for 11 days with casualties of 60 KIA and WIA. Remaining 20 men descended hill approx 5 days ago. 13 men fled in various directions and 7 men slipped through UN lines. 7 men wandered in hills for approx 3 days and surrendered to 3d Bn, 21st RCT. 7th Co approx 3 km N of position on hill (possibly 887). 8th Co in temple approx 1 1/2 km NW of positions. Men of 8th Co due to heavy casualties, were divided among 7th, 8th and Hq Co approx 15 days ago. 3d Bn CP located 4 km N of positions.

d. Mission
Told by Sqd Ldr to defend positions at all cost.
e. Food & Ammo
Food insufficient. Locally procured. Ammo insufficient.
f. Reinforcements
Sqd Ldr and another soldier went after replacements 2 1/2 months ago but returned approx 1 month later without replacements.
g. Other Units
Heard from Co CO at 38th parallel approx 3 months ago that 50th and 60th Armies are in KOREA.
h. Morale
Morale is low due to lack of food, poor clothing, and lies of superiors.
i. UN Leaflets
PW has picked up leaflet and believed it. Thought to surrender because had no desire to fight. 80 percent of men have no desire to fight.
j. Broadcast
Heard plane broadcast approx 15 days ago, however was not able to hear clearly.

Observed approx 10 ROK PW N of 38th parallel approx 3 months ago. Heading N.
