Surrendered to US troops after being separated from his unit in vic of Hill 291. Unit had retreated on the night of 9 Feb 51.

c. Unit location: 2d Regt arrived Mt SULI-SAN (approx 2 mile E of ANYANG CS 165405) 8 Feb 51 from SEOUL. Although 1st and 3d Regt were also in same vic, the whole division retreated toward SEOUL 9 Feb 51.
d. Surrendered to UN troops after being separated from his unit.
e. Location and identification of adjacent units:
47th NK Div: Was also in vic of Mt KWANAK-SAN CS 201455. He got this information from men from 47th Div.
f. Weapons: One 82mm mortar in the 1st Bn.
g. Reinforcements: Knows of no reinforcements immediately available.
h. Special EEI:
(1) Subject’s unit (8th Div) crossed HAN River 8 km S of SEOUL 10 Jan 51.
(2) No bridging equipment used since crossing was made on frozen river.
(3) US night bombing is not accurate.
(4) US psychological warfare broadcasts not heard.
(1) Night travel is made principally on mountain trails in valleys.
(2) Subject’s unit scattered and hit the dirt when faced by unexpected shelling.
(3) Subject never saw air burst type artillery fire.
(4) Night artillery fire is fearful and keeps troops awake.
(5) Dig bomb shelters while in position and disperse while on the move.
(6) US artillery fire is accurate.
(7) Has not seen any white phosphorous shelling.
(8) No known counter measures against UN artillery.
