1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, but often inconsistent on dates and place names.
The information does not appear reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology
Inducted into the NKA at ANAK (YC 1864) 17 Jul 50. Transferred to approx 4 Km North of WONSAN (CU 6634) and assigned to 2d Regt, 3d Div, II Corps which was then at WONSAN. 3d Division, approx 7,000 troops trained here for a month.
5 Sep 50; the Division moved to P’YONGYANG on foot, and after 5 days, departed for SEOUL on foot.
5 Oct 50, arrived SEOUL, via HWANGJU (YC 4283), SARIWON (YC 4065), SINMAK (BT 5856), KUMCH’ON (BT 7826), and KAESONG (BT 8505).
8 Oct 50; marched southward, but PW remained in SEOUL, suffering from piles, and was treated in a hospital.
11 Oct 50; transported to P’YONGYANG by train, because SEOUL Hospital was too crowded. PW remained P’YONGYANG for 5 days and was transported to SINUIJU (XE 1839) by train 17 Oct 50.
PW remained in hospital for two months. Upon being released 10 Dec 50, was ordered to proceed to P’YONGYANG.
25 Dec 50, arrived P’YONGYANG on foot with 200 other men released from hospital. PW and 50 of the released men were assigned to 3d Regt, 1st Div, III Corps and departed P’YONGYANG 28 Dec 50 for KANGGYE (BA 9837), where the 1st Division was.
Jan 51, PW arrived KANGGYE and joined 3d Regt. Remained for a week, being issued a Russian rifle, 200 rounds of ammo, 3 hand grenades, winter clothing, a wool cap and a pair of boots. He then departed KANGGYE, southward.
22 Feb 51, 1st Div arrived SAGONG NI (DS 2402), via HUICH’ON (BU 6048), PYONGKANG (CT 5152), HWACH’ON (CT 8618), INJE (DT 2712), HONGCH’ON (DS 0272), and HOENGSONG (DS 1149).
26 Feb 51, 1st Div began to retreat northward; PW remained behind because of rain and having lost his directions. Captured by ROK Unit 27 Feb 51.

c. Location and Activities:
When last observed (26 Feb 51), 1st Division Headquarters was at SAGONG NI (DS 2402) with 3d Regiment approx 4 Km North of the Division Headquarters. 1st Regiment was approx 4 Km South of the Division Headquarters, and 2d Regiment was approx 6 Km West of Division Headquarters.
The 2d Division, II Corps was approx 16 Km South of the 1st Division.
26 Feb 51, 1st Division was withdrawing northward.

d. Food, Ammo and Other Supplies:
Usually, each man carried 3 days rations, but recently there has been a shortage of food and the troops have been constantly hungry.

e. Signal:

Battalion: 1 Field Phone, Russian-make.

f. Medical:
There had been three abdominal typhus patients in 3d Bn, 2d Regiment. These had received no immunizations or treatment. There were no frostbite patients in PW Battalion.

g. Psychological Warfare:
Captured by ROK Unit.
Saw UN leaflets once, but he is almost illiterate.
Did not witness men discussing leaflets.
