Cooperative; however, due to limited military service, information limited. PW fairly reliable.

Military History:
Inducted 15 Jun 50, P’YONGYANG (平壤). Received one month (15 Jun - 15 Jul 50) basic intantry training, P’YONGYANG. Departed P’YONGYANG, 15 Jul 50, with approx 1,000 recent conscripts (age 17 to 35) by rail - arrived YANGYANG (襄陽) - 19 Jul 50. Departed YANGYANG - 20 Jul 50 - by truck -- arrived KANGNUNG (江陵) - 25 Jul 50.
The road between YANGYANG and KANGNUNG was in bad condition due to shelling and bombing, however, bridges were in good condition. Departed KANGNUNG - 26 Jul 50 - marched - arrived SAMCH'OK (三陟) - 2 Aug 50. Departed SAMCH'OK - 2 Aug 50 - marched - by way of mountain trails - arrived CH'ONGSONG (靑松) - 12 Aug 50. Departed CH'ONGSONG - 13 Aug 50 - marched - arrived KIGYE (杞溪) - 15 Aug 50.
At KIGYE the 1,000 conscripts (replacements) were assigned to various units of 5th Div. The number of men in KIGYE at that time was unknown. PW and approx 300 men were assigned to 10th Regt (15 Aug 50).
During march from YANGYANG to KIGYE, there was no opposition.
17 Aug 50, the Regte of the Div separated. Disposition unknown. The 10th Regt departed KIGYE, 17 Aug 50 - marched - arrived 12 km E of KIGYE (PIHAK Mt Area) - 19 Aug 50, At this point the Bns of the Regt separated. (Disposition unknown). PW's Bn (3rd Bn) marched to a mountain (20 km E of KIGYE) and dug fox holes (by Cos) on the reverse slope of mountain, 19 Aug 50.
After spending about 10 days (19 - 29 Aug 50) on the mountain, PW's unit (7th Co) went on a security detail to an unknown area. While returning from the detail they were shelled by ROK artillery and attacked by US aircraft (29 1000K Aug 50). During the attack the troops of PW's Co (7th) panicked and ran all over the Mt areas. During the excitement, PW hid in a ditch at the foot of the mountain and about 7 hours later gave himself up to the ROK 1st Regt. The other Cos of the 3rd Bn were located about 2 km S of place of capture.

Present strength of 3rd Bn, 10th Regt (29 Aug 50), 1,000 men.

Supplies:
PW received average of two meals a day. Food was confiscated from farmers.
Ammunition last received at KIGYE, 15 Aug 50 (100 rounds per man).

Enemy Intentions:
5th Div objective - P’OHANG-DONG.

PW observed 7th Div stationed in PIHAK Mt Area, 19 Aug 50.
