18 Aug 50: PW & approximately 800 men (conscripted in SEOUL & North Korean areas) departed SEOUL by rail arriving CH’UNCH’ON (春川)
19 Aug 50: At CH’UNCH’ON 400 mm of the 800 man remained there (disposition unknown). The other 400 men continued their march.

At KUNWI the 400 men were separated into groups of 50 men each and sent to various units located in mts (16 km S of KUNWI village). According to PW the entire 1st Div was in the mts. 1st Regt located in mt W of the road running to T’AEGU; 2nd & 3rd Regts were located in mt E of the road to T’AEGU (24 Aug 50). Later 25 Aug 50 the 1st Regt moved to KASAN (20 km S of KUNWI). While sleeping in the castle they were shelled by ROK artillery and mortars, Fighting for several hours, PW then deserted and surrendered to the ROK 10th Regt, who surrounded the mountain (25 Aug 50),

Enemy Intentions:Objective of 1st Div was T'AEGU.
Additional Information:PW estimates that there are about 10,000 NK troops stationed in the SEOUL Area. Unit designations unknown. They are utilizing former ROK Army barracks. Troops wore observed occupying the for men MITSUKOSHI Dept Store in SEOUL. N. Korean AA units occupying former Japanese AA positions on NAMSAN (南山) in SEOUL. Russian military personnel were occasionally soon riding around town in cars but seldom observed walking in streets. Bombed RR tracks were repaired by forced labor units conscripted in SEOUL,
