PW was of low intelligence. He contradicted his statement many times during the course of interrogation. PW did not know the location of units of the 1st Div. PW did not know the difference between Div and Regt. Information seemed doubtful.
Military History:5 Jul 50 - Inducted at CHINNAMP'O (鎭南浦) Training Center. Received basic training (close order drill and manual of arms with wooden rifle) for 1 week. PW was told by his Co CO that he was in the 12th Regt, 4th Bn, 2nd Co, 1st Plt.
16 Jul 50 - The 12th Regt departed CHINNAMP'O 12 Aug 50. There were no troops remaining in the CHINNAMP'O Training Center. PW heard from his friends that there were approx 1,800 men in the 12th Regt. The 12th Regt left CHINNAMP'O by train.
18 Jul 50 - Reached SUSAEK (水色) (3 km N of SEOUL) marched to SEOUL.
21 Jul 50 - Marched towards south from SEOUL.
o/a 23 Jul - Arrived SUWON (水原). About 1,200 men remained at SUWON. Rest of the 600 men including PW left SUWON o/a 24 Jul 50.
o/a 16 Aug - Reached 5 km N of KUNWI. The 600 men were attached to the 2nd Regt of the 1st Div as replacements. PW and 120 men were attached to the 4th Bn, 3rd Co (submachine gun Co). The men in PW's Co received submachine guns. Each man also received 300 rounds of ammunition. The 4th Bn advanced to a point approx 4 km N of KUNWI. Here, the 4th Bn was shelled by the ROK troops for 3 days.
24 Aug 50 - About 14 men including PW were led by a Jr Lt and advanced to a point 15 km NW of KUNWI. The 15 men encountered ROK troops and PW and the Jr Lt were captured. Rest of the men were killed.
Weapons and Personnel:Submachine Gun Co - 3 x Plt's (45 men per Plt); all the men were equipped with submchine guns except 15 ammunition carriers; there were also 2 HMG’s and 3 x 82mm mortars in this company.
Casualties - unknown.
Armor:No information.
Artillery:PW observed 5 x 76mm at CHECH'ON (堤川) o/a 10 Aug 50.
Vehicles:PW observed 6 trucks at 9 km N of KUNWI o/a 15 Aug 50. PW did not know what was loaded on these trucks.
Supplies:Ate once or twice a day. PW believed there was enough ammunition. Ammunition was hauled by trucks at night.
Enemy Intentions:Objective of 1st Div - TAEGU.
