PW was seriously wounded, spoke with considerable difficulty. Was not coherent at times.

Military History:
Date Inducted: 26 Jul 50 at SEOUL
Training: PW received 2 days training in SEOUL. Training consisted of indoctrination lectures only. Subject was one of 6,000 men conscripted on 26 Jul 50 and organized into the 1st and 2nd Replacement Regts.
Tactical Movements: 28 Jul 50, 2nd Repl Regt departed SEOUL less equipment, on horse-drawn wagons, trucks, and 18 x JS-3 Heavy tanks. Strength 2nd Repl Regt, 3,000 men. Column stayed intact.
2 Aug 50 - 2nd Repl Regt arrived CH’UNGJU. Sustained 6ne air attack enroute. Loss, one truck, no casualties. Regt. received new equipment. Each Co received Russian rifles, 1 x HMG, and 16 x LMG. Observed no artillery. Subject heard that CH’UNGJU was a replacement center.
8 Aug 50 - 2nd Repl Regt arrived HAMCH'ANG. At a point. 2 or 3 km from HAMCH'ANG, the unit sustained an air attack. Losses, 4 trucks, 150 men, 6 x tanks destroyed or damaged. Attacked by 4 single-engine fighters. casualties were high because column was ordered to remain in place. Reason for such an order unknown. During the attack subject heard AA MG fire from the adjacent hills. No aircraft were hit. Tanks were separated from the column at HAMCH'ANG. Details unknown.
O/a 20 Aug 50 - 2nd Repl regt arrived in the southern slope of P’ALGONG-SAN (1160-1450). Route of travel from HAMCH'ANG, unknown. No incidents enroute. Entire 1st Div located in P’ALGONG-SAN Area. 1st Div occupied area immediately south of the highest peak of P’ALGONG-SAN. The 15th. Div was approx 2 or 3 km to the N of the 1st Div. Upon reaching P’ALGONG-SAN, the 2nd Repl Regt was divided equally into 2 groups. An estimated 1500 troop were sent as replacements to the 1st Div while the remaining 1,500 men were assigned to the various units of the 15th Div. Designation of Regts, 15th Div, unknown. Details on strength and equipment. 15th Div, unknown. Subjects Bn was composed of about 300 men. The 15th Div was following the 1st Div.

Morale: The troops had no confidence in the capabilities of the NKPA and expect defeat, except for the officers and NCO's who are very obedient to orders, The soldiers are constantly soaking means of deserting. The troops are obedient to the commands only because they fear death.
