Cooperative, information limited because of PW’s illiteracy, lack of military training and the fact that observation was limited to night.
Military History:Inducted 6 Jul 50, NANAM (羅南).
Trained in close order drill and manual of arms, NANAM 1 week.
Tactical Movements:Departed NANAM 18 Jul 50 - railroad - arrived with 1,600 replacements SEOUL 28 Jul 50.
Departed SEOUL 29 Jul 50 - marched - ferried across HAN River - marched - arrived MUN'GYONG (聞慶) (1100-1540) o/a 18 Aug 50.
Departed MUN'GYONG o/a 20 Aug 50 (approx 1,200 replacements remained at MUN'GYONG marched - arrived with about 400 replacements, KUNWI (軍威) o/a 24 Aug 50. PW joined 3rd Sqd, 1st Plt, 2nd Bn, 3rd Regt, KUNWI (1150-1480).
Departed KUKWI o/a 24 Aug 50 - marched - arrived KASAN 25 Aug 50. Shelled by arty, bombed by aircraft, and attacked by ROK soldiers. KASAN - 26 Aug 50. PW was wounded and knocked unconscious by a bomb. Upon regaining consciousness he found only one other living NKPA soldier. He was surrounded by ROK soldiers, so surrendered immediately, 28 Aug 50.
Personalities:Names unknown but stated that 7th Co CO was KIA KASAN - 26 Aug 50.
Foreign Elements:Observed one Soviet civilian talking through an interpreter to Korean civilians - MUN'GYONG o/a 18 Aug 50.

Supplies:Received 1 rice ball every other day. PW was always hungry.
Enemy intentions:Objective of 1st Div was TAEGU. No gas equipment or training received. Morale in 7th Co was low because of heavy casualties, lack of food, and lack of sufficient training.
